It is always interesting how customers view your business, as it always provides a slightly different slant to how you view it yourself. Knowing helps you and the business to evolve into a better place. Have you ever had such a moment? Last week I was part of a whole staff meeting with a Play It Green member and one person just viewed us as a great educational platform for sustainability. We are this, of course we are but it isn't at the forefront of our mantra as we do a lot more stuff BUT it did get me thinking. Maybe we just are an educational (and impact) platform for sustainability. My partner in crime Richard Dickson produces some wonderful educational content every week - business best practice, knowing the subject of sustainability and footprint reduction tips and discounts for you as a person. Then in the members platform we have a host of educational content for your business - policies, plans, governance, risk management, marketing material etc. We are most definitely an educational platform. Thanks to our members we've also planted over half a million trees and gifted vital funds to over 35 different UK charities so we're more than an educational platform but I also agree with our member last week - Play It Green is an education platform. Our members love the trees we plant, it makes them and us feel good building forests but one thing we are not is just a tree planting organisation. Education has always been part of our marketing of step 1 but the messaging has sat beneath our overarching mantra of our 3 step solution - reduce, repair regive. Are we getting this right? Our product is the best on the market, we're doing great but we've not gone viral yet.
