"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." This quote by renowned American inventor, Benjamin Franklin, talks about how the best form of investment (of time and money) is towards learning and knowledge acquisition. Currently, I have a subject in college that talks all about being financially literate, and learning where and how to save money in such a manner that one is essentially worry-free in terms of long-term goals. But the notable part I found in this subject was that our professor suggested that we should first try and invest in ourselves to be ready to invest in other places to be eligible for such an opportunity. By investing in ourselves, he meant that one should first acquire more knowledge, and skills and pursue interests that align with our career goals as well. This way, we are secure in terms of our career as well as being financially conscious about it. In the same way, we can apply such a policy in terms of education, such that even with smaller inputs, the result is brilliant. While it is true that in the education sector, it is often a matter of more price for more quality, it is not always true. Trends never show any bias between students based on this economic metric. It is always sheer dedication towards learning and practicing well towards the goal of success that brings out the best in each student. The same applies to higher education, where one is encouraged to participate in more activities such as events, courses, societies, seminars, and internships, thereby improving our skillsets. All of these constitute our investment in knowledge, which secures our future one step at a time. At Pehchaan The Street School (Trust), students and interns both share a common interest in investing in knowledge and skills to secure plans and aspirations, so each student and intern can dare to dream! ✨ 𝑁𝑜𝑛-𝑇𝑟𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑟 𝑃𝑎𝑡ℎ𝑠 ✨ It was great to be back at UCL this week, sharing my experiences working at a startup. At uni, it’s easy to feel like the only options are the “default” paths - Consulting, Investment Banking, etc. I was definitely guilty of this. But, the truth is: 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. If you're a student or even a recent grad still looking for a role, don't just blindly follow the path that everyone else is taking. Early in your career, it's less about landing your 'dream job' and more about finding a role that allows you to learn, grow, and build connections. You should think of this stage of your career as the building blocks that will open the door to your 'dream job' in the future. p.s. If you think working at a startup could be a good fit for you, then drop me a message, I'm always happy to chat :)

Investment Portfolio Challenge winner - Vienna Schnetzka The Investment Portion of the Intern Program is designed to give exposure to real-world portfolio construction. These portfolios will be created on the Investopedia Simulator platform, where all interns will be given $500k to trade and monitor throughout the program. They need to provide rationales for any trades done throughout the simulation. Interns are encouraged to use their resources for help. At the end of the program the interns will be shown how to create a Morningstar Report, which will be sent to the Investment Committee along with their rationales, to be judged using qualitative and quantitative data. #RWMG

Unlocking the secret to maximizing returns: The ultimate guide to mastering sector rotation! Join the journey from dreams to wealth with Day 19 of my Equity Research Terminologies Series! 📊📚 Master the language of markets, from Alpha to Z-Score. Let's decode wealth creation together! 💰📈 19 What is Sector Rotation? 📌 A strategy involving shifting investments between different sectors based on economic conditions and market trends. 📌 Investors use sector rotation to try to achieve higher returns than the overall market or to reduce risk by diversifying across sectors. 📌 Sector rotation can be implemented using various approaches, such as buying individual stocks, exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that track specific sectors, or sector rotation mutual funds. It requires careful analysis of economic data, market trends, and sector fundamentals to determine which sectors are likely to outperform or underperform in the current environment. 👉 Above terminology is usually asked in many Interviews related to finance, Investment or accounting. If answered correctly it helps the candidate to get hired for a Job or an Internship! ✅ Do you think this was helpful? 💡 Follow Alok Gosalia for more such content on Equity Research Terminologies, Career Counseling and self-growth. First Foundation’s students wrapped up their final 50-page paper in their applied investment course last week with a strong presentation and received very good marks. If you remember, the students were asked to analyze 3 stocks and chose Warren Buffett’s 2nd ever stock purchase Texas Pacific Land (NYSE:TPL) over Berkshire current top 5 stock, Occidental Petroleum (NYSE: OXY) and Prairie Sky (TOR:PSK). We are excited to announce that we were invited back to the UCLA Ben Graham Value Investing Program as Investor-In-Residence for a 5th year next year - if you would like to learn more: https://lnkd.in/dxrsGNTA. Eric Speron, CFA, our Managing Director of Equities and lead portfolio manager on the First Foundation Total Return Fund (NASDAQ: FBBYX), is hopeful that as the students finish up their final summer internships in investment banking and consultants, they will consider a job as an investor when they join the workforce on a full-time basis. The 5-star Morningstar-rated Total Return fund does own a few of the securities being analyzed but we were careful to protect the impartiality of the role. We went over the proxy statement, insider purchases and a careful study of the people that drive the businesses that trade on our stock exchanges, as getting to know those people, their motivations, and the way they shape their businesses are lessons we hope they don’t forget. If the experience wasn’t memorable enough, a few of those pictured did close the day’s events with a few verses of the theme song from the old Television program, “The Beverly Hillbillies.” #teamff #ucla #investment

Hult Students: Looking for Internships in Quant Finance? Sending countless applications is not the only way. Hedge funds, prop trading firms, investment offices are always looking for talent supported by skills. Today we had Jared Broad, QuantConnect Founder and CEO, speaking in our AI for Investment Management class at Hult International Business School. Jared described QuantConnect's new initiative, Quant League, designed to connect students with several hundred professional investment firms that leverage QuantConnect Platform for strategy development and trade execution. Quant League is a place where student teams from academic institutions can engage in open competition and showcase their creativity. On a separate note, special thanks to Jared for sharing his own entrepreneurship story. Towards the end of the talk, Jared summarized his vision about the future of QuantConnect: a "Linux OS for Quant Finance". As a Linux user for 25+ years, I particularly appreciate this quote. Good luck to all the Hult students competing in the Quant League!
