Due to some recent changes at Strong Roots I am looking for new opportunities to best deploy my skills as a Sr./Director of Sales. Over the past decade plus, I've been fortunate enough to have participated in the growth, cultivation, and emergence of some powerhouse brands/categories that are still thriving well beyond my departure, alongside some of the most inspirational founders/teams imaginable. I've been able to work collaboratively with some of the best minds in this industry, and I've crafted long-lasting relationships along the way, which I am grateful for. I’ve managed internal teams, nearly every brokerage, called on National Accounts, Mass and every Regional customer under the sun. Key customers including Absco Global, Kroger, Target, Publix, Wegmans, Wakefern, etc. 🥛 NotCo (Director of Sales, East) - Entered the wild world of food tech and worked alongside my first Global team. Leveraged a robust shopper budget to launch algorithm-developed PB Milk & PB Burger into over 8000 doors Nationally. 🥛 Oatly (Director of Sales, East)- US Retail Salesperson #3, managed the entire East from the earliest days and helped build the rocket-ship as it was taking off - what a journey! Encountered a new set of challenges, not having enough product to sell, and successfully made it through an IPO for the first time in my career. 🍅 Sir Kensington's (National Sales Manager) - Where I truly learned what culture could be when done right. With the support of Unilever, in a National sales capacity, sold our condiment and dressing portfolio with resounding success. Still the only condiment you’ll find in our household. 🌱 KeVita (Regional Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic & Southeast) - Climbing up the ladder and finding my first mentor within the industry. Another powerhouse brand on an accelerated path to acquisition, when we handed things over to PepsiCo, it felt like a job well done, there wasn’t a pocket of distribution throughout the entire country we hadn’t developed. 🥥 ZICO Rising (Market Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic) - Where it all started and when I fell in love with this industry. In Home Kitchen & Household Industry   Management hires a Vice President Sales & Marketing   Vice President hires a RSM (Regional Sales Manager)   RSM hires a ASM (Area Sales Manager)   ASM hire a Sales Executive / Representative   Now this Sales Executive is on field collecting orders from retail stores.   He visits them every week and ask them the same question   KUCH AANA HAI. In most of the cases the answer is NAHI.   Let’s not expect that in the 5-7min of his visit which is not informed in advance the retail store owner/manager can remember where he is from and what all he sells. A decent store gets 15 executives from different companies in a day. Executive moves on to the next outlet. This keeps on happening week after week. He is happy with two orders a day (this is bare minimum required to save his job)   This gentleman has little knowledge or update about new launch / prevailing scheme for retail store offered by company He will also not educate the retailor about the USP of the product he is selling, he might be not knowing himself only There is a possibility that he is even not carrying the latest product catalog forget the samples Companies feels the sales are not upto the mark Realty is the retail business in above said category is just doing great , consumption is just great and growing There is no competition as fas as offline and online goes There is enough space for every model We need trained people who understand the pulse of the market to sell.   Don’t Replace Work Force …...Train Them Well     #home #kitchen #household #plasticity #hr #ceo #retail #store #fieldexecutive #sales #marketing

Spent last week with our Loverboy Inc. NJ/PA Market Manager amy godonis doing a Market Blitz in NJ with Ritchie & Page Distributing Co. This market work was capped with a few Meet & Greets with Kyle Cooke at Wine Outlet and some key on-premise accounts. All of our work was enhanced by Alex Rumman's and Dylan Marino's social media and POS aimed specifically to reflect all our efforts. From a supplier's viewpoint, Market Work is pinnacle to gaining and keeping the front-of-mind space from our distributor management and sales personnel. We need to make our distributors an extension of us and show that we are a true partner to our distributors. - Brands with engaged wholesalers see up to a 20% increase in sales. - 80% of wholesalers are more likely to promote a brand that provides marketing materials and sales support. - Training and educating wholesaler reps can lead to a 25% increase in product knowledge and a 15% increase in sales performance. It’s been a long time running….It’s well worth the wait ! My all-time favorite band, The Tragically Hip wrote the song “It’s been a long time running”, chronicling the end of one life experience with a view towards the next.  It ends with the line, “It’s well worth the wait.”  That pretty much sums up my career path looking ahead.  I’m excited to announce that tomorrow (Feb 7, 2024), I’m launching i34g Consulting, my own Strategy, Sales & Marketing firm!  After 30+ years in the FMCPG & Retail industry in Canada & the U.S. , tomorrow I leave corporate world & write the next entrepreneurial chapter. In the coming weeks, I’ll be reaching out to friends & colleagues with the hope of enlisting support building awareness of the value-added services of newly-minted i34g. Before I do that, I want to acknowledge many who were instrumental helping me reach this crossroad of opportunity.  Early in my career at Kraft Foods, Derek Briffett, Gary Kerr & Brian Press gave me an amazing chance to pioneer Category Management.  That led to mentoring by one of the greatest all-time Sales leaders (Lou Kanary) & he taught me the art of Sales & Customer Partnership.  Years later, Earlene Worrall encouraged my big leap into Marketing; that diversification was a personal game-changer.  At PepsiCo, I was mentored by Andrea Graham, who instilled a depth of appreciation for iconic Brands like Tropicana.  During my MARS days, Luc Mongeau & Richard Kellum taught me the power of campaign emotional connectvity. At ConAgra & Maple Leaf Foods, Andrew Armstrong reinforced relentless drive for results & Ian Troop inspired me with Strategy.  Steve Bigford offered a golden opportunity to launch Category Management & Shopper Marketing across North America at Irving Consumer Products.  Tyson Yu & Deb Cochrane gave me insight to the power of B2B marketing at ARYZTA. Robert Sherkin, Pete Koszo & Ron Dolan gifted their depth of tire & auto industry knowledge, when I led Marketing for SAILUN Tire Americas. I also have many people to thank for my experience on “the-other-side-of-the-sales-desk”, when I rounded out my last corporate role at Sobeys. I learned a lot in 3 decades, thanks to many supportive people.  Now, with years of iconic brand experiences in my toolbox, I’m kicking open a new entrepreneurial door.  There are many who blazed that trail including Eric Yuan/Zoom (41), Sam Walton/Wal-Mart (44), Henry Ford/ 1st Auto (45), Ray Kroc/McDonald’s (52), Ariana Huffington/The Huffington Post (55).  All achieved incredible success in a later career chapter, and while that’s aspirational company to try to join, I’m up for that challenge. It’s time to apply years of experience in Tier 1 CPG to help small to mid-sized players “Play at that Pro Level”.   Please check out my new website at www.i34gconsulting.ca or www.i34gconsulting.com  & spread the word that i34g is launching!  It’s been a long time running….but it’s well worth the wait.    Cheers, Kevin
