What a great project for us at Ryco Logix Inc. With our scope focusing on the HRSG repowering of the original 150 MW Hitatchi generator, this was by far one of the most challenging scopes we have undertaken from design through startup and turnover, given the vintage of equipment, coupled with evolution of changes. The amalgamation of several different control platforms and DCS systems, added extra challenge, to couple systems and ensure conformity of signals and data. Not an easy task that can be done in one step. What we do rarely fits in any box, and is difficult to quantify and define, it takes an understanding ownership, a proper project team, and a lot of patience to get to the finish line. Thanks to all of the Plant staff that were critical to our success. Old plants have many ghosts, and many stories, experience and operational knowledge cannot be replaced or overlooked. Thanks to management for working with us, listening, and supporting the challenges along the way. We thank all the maintenance and operations staff for taking us in, helping us at every turn. It's a great plant with some resilient staff, that care deeply about their operation.

Are pipelines once again being built on the East Coast? In the NE and SE regions of the U.S. from 2011 to 2020, interstate natural gas pipelines each year on average, put into service expansion projects that increased capacity by almost 5 Bcf/day. Over the last 3 years, that average is now about 1 Bcf/day even though since 2011 the East Coast has almost doubled its use of natural gas as a fuel source to produce electricity. The problem though is that the number of difficulties pipelines face in this region has led most pipelines to look at other areas where expansion does not face the same problems. However, that may be changing. The continuing need for gas and a growing realization at FERC that new capacity may be needed seems to be encouraging a renaissance of projects. Some projects remain blocked by state regulators — such as Iroquois’ ExC project and Transco’s Northeast Supply Enhancement project. Transco’s Regional Energy Access project on the other hand has received good news and will be in service in time for this winter. Since January 2022 there also have been 10 separate projects filed for these two regions with a total new capacity of approximately 1.8 Bcf/day. 1888: The first known US wind turbine created for electricity production is built by inventor Charles Brush. In the spirit of Mr. Brush’s ingenuity, and in response to the need for cost optimization and efficiency in the construction of the US Offshore wind market, BMS has risen to the challenge yet again. One of the major hurdles facing the industry is the availability of Monopiles. The BMS 1888 answers the call to this challenge by providing a mobile pipe mill facility that can be scaled to meet the requirements of any specific project, anywhere on the coast. This also speeds up the initialization of the project, as the facility can be moored anywhere with appropriate water depth and height clearance. Should available shoreside facilities not be available, the 1888 can also be mated up to additional mobile welding and coating facilities barges, creating a full scale production line that can be rapidly mobilized to any area that can accommodate the marine footprint.
