How can we preserve a thousand-year-old tradition like beer brewing in a world where extreme weather threatens barley and hop cultivation, and consumer preferences are constantly changing? That’s exactly what I discussed with Berlingske recently. At Carlsberg Group, our focus goes beyond just brewing. In recent years, we’ve been rethinking our processes to reduce environmental impact - using less water and energy - while adapting crops to thrive in an increasingly extreme climate. In 2022, we introduced FIND-IT, a non-GMO breeding technology that rapidly screens thousands of crop varieties to identify seeds with the best traits. It’s a gamechanger for brewing, helping us find seeds that are more resistant to climate change and disease, as well as crops that are more nutritionally dense. With technologies like FIND-IT, we can ensure consistent quality and freshness while future-proofing our beer. That’s something I’m really proud of! #Regenerative partnerships, for the win (FTW)! I love to see Retailers get involved in regen ag; there's no such thing as "small potatoes" in #SustainableAgriculture. Announced yesterday: --> Campbell's (soup) is teaming up with retailer Ahold Delhaize (parent company of Food Lion) to pilot #RegenerativeAgriculture on 1,000 acres of potatoes 🥔. 🤝 This isn't the first partnership between a major Consumer Package Goods (CPG) brand and a retailer. --> Ahold Delhaize has partnered with both Kellanova and General Mills on regen ag pilots. --> Walmart made huge regen ag announcements with PepsiCo and General Mills last year. 🥕 These kinds of partnerships are critical for a collective move towards a more sustainable food system. --> We all have skin in the game: 👩🌾 Farmers 🥔 Food companies 🏪 Retailers, and yes, even 🛒 Consumers --> We all win when our food is grown in a more sustainable way.
