We are so proud of our 20-year partnership with Foodbank Australia, who, together with our supply chain arm, Primary Connect, are helping families experiencing food insecurity in the Top End. As well as donating food and household items from our distribution centres across the nation, Primary Connect, is one of Foodbank SA & NT's biggest pro bono transport providers, regularly delivering pallets of food and essentials to the new Foodbank Food Hub and Warehouse operation in Darwin. As a result, Foodbank SA & NT CEO Greg Pattinson, Regional Manager Jack Barrett, and their devoted team have been able to distribute more than 342,980kg of food relief across the Northern Territory, including remote First Nations communities. “Partnering with Jack and the Foodbank team has been incredibly rewarding,” says Woolworths NT Group Manager, Daniel Palumbo. “They’re making a real difference in their quest to end hunger in the Top End.” Watch the inspiring video here:

This is just up the road from Dufftown, in Elgin. A Foodbank. Are the people of Moray not embarrassed that a SINGLE Firm, (yet just 8% of the entire Scotch Whisky Industry), can take out HALF A BILLION DOLLARS, from the clearly impoverished area, in just a year? Why ON EARTH do we have a Foodbank here? It's only 18 miles drive, between Dufftown and Elgin. Have you been to Elgin? Have you been to Dufftown? There nothing much paved with Gold! It's a similar story, all over Scotland. If you go to most Scottish Foodbanks, they're usually beside a Distillery, Maturation Shed, Cask Manufacturer or Bottler. When are we having a Scotch Whisky Tourism Strategy and Budget? One that gives back, to the areas of Scotland who make the stuff and doesn’t just take. The Scotch Whisky Association knows it's ridiculous, that why they won't let me tag them, on here! There's an App to tell you where the nearest Foodbank is, there's NOT one to tell you where the nearest Distillery is... Does ANYONE care? Had a very engaging day today at the #GrocerySummit4All, Co-hosted by Food Systems for the Future and Global Food Institute at the George Washington University. We heard from smaller independent retailers like Oasis Fresh Market in Tulsa to larger retailers like Stop & Shop. We heard from non-profits like The Food Trust to academic partners like the Rural Grocery Initiative and Rial Carver. We also heard from leading experts like Stacy Dean, Ertharin Cousin, and Secretary Vilsack. If we learned anything, it is that it is going to take collaboration at all levels to keep rural and urban grocery thriving.
