Last week marked my 1 year anniversary of leaving the ‘perm world’ and joining the ‘contracting life’. I wanted to jump on here and mark down some of the pros and cons. PROS: - Money. The number one reason I left my permanent job was to bring home more money in this cost of living crisis we’re all going through. - Remote Working. It was great being permanently remote, allowing me to hit the gym more, take the dog out more and avoid any of the hustle involved with office life. - Changing Work. It’s great to be able to swap contracts and see the different workings of different companies and add more feathers to my cap. CONS: - Insecurity. With this way of working, nothing is forever, the stress of a contract potentially ending and not having something else lined up has been one that plagued me when it happened. - Money. Although the pay is great, there’s no holiday or sick pay (including bank holidays) so whilst everyone is loving life with their long weekends, some of us are raring to be working. - Lack of Family. I think I was really lucky in my permanent role, my colleagues were great and so was my boss. Decisions were made together to benefit as many avenues as possible and I was privy to those decisions. In the contracting world, these decisions can be thrust upon you without any form of rebuttal. Overall, I’m happy I left my comfort zone to try something new and I think Perm & Contracting could learn things from each other (Perm pay your staff better & Contracting care about your staff more). If anybody is thinking of jumping ship and is hesitant, feel free to reach out!

𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 - 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 Our next employee focus is our Financial Accountant - Claire White. 👉Where are you from? I am a true Blaa but moved to Kilkenny in 2020. 👉When did you join Clancy? April 2024. 👉What does a typical day look like for you at Clancy? There is no such thing, every day is different. I’m still learning so for the next while I’ll be doing things I never knew existed. 👉What is your favourite thing about Clancy? My favourite thing hmmmmm; I really enjoy the work. It’s definitely not the drive but the people and atmosphere here is so normal it makes the commute my least favourite thing. 👉What's your secret to starting the day off right? A hot shower, where the peace, from the zoo I live in, gives me a chance to plan and go through the things I need to do or I forgot to do & a good coffee. 👉Favourite Holiday Destination? Anywhere with sun and a good cocktail bar, if there’s a game of rugby on too that helps! 👉Outside of work, what are your favourite hobbies or activities? I used to do a lot with horses but since I’m not allowed in the saddle anymore, I spend my weekends walking the demon dogs and replanting the plants they have dug up... 👉How would you describe the team culture and collaboration within Clancy? I’ve been around the block and worked in different industries, and I have never experienced a team culture and collaboration like it. There will always be strains, it’s human nature, but actions speak louder than words and Clancy practices what it preaches. 👉Share a funny or memorable moment from your time working here. Probably some interaction between Pat and Joe, they could do the Cats Laughs! 👉Tell us a fact that people might not know about you? I have a 26-year-old son that I raised as a single mother, whilst working fulltime and attending college fulltime. Oh and I can muck out a stable like nobody else! 🖥 www.clancy.ie

If someone gave you 130 EUR, how would you spend it? Some would spend it on diapers, others on full car gas, but we would all love to treat ourselves for holidays. Every holiday season, one of the benefits our employees get is to buy themselves something at the company's expense. While some decide to treat themselves, others splurge on their loved ones. Either way, let's be honest: spending other people's money feels great! Check out more Devōt benefits and unwrap the joy of working with us --https://devot.team/careers

Crafting Compelling Stories & Inspiring Learning Experiences | Owner of Victoria DeVita Writing, LLC & Spellbound Sprouts | Content Writer/ Brand Strategist | Lesson Plan Innovator | Podcast Host of Figuring Things Out
I wanted to take a quick pause from my posting break to shout out an incredible company that has been putting in some serious work for a while but especially this past year. As some of you may know, my mother-in-law Susan Walko has owned and operated Organiz-ER, LLC for the last 20+ years. And since July of 2022, the staff of Organiz-ER includes my wonderful husband, Nick Walko (who officially went full-time late last year). Recently, Organiz-ER transitioned to being a dedicated business consulting firm and moved away from classic home, life, and office organization. This shift was not an easy decision to make but the payoff and process have been incredible to watch. I have worked closely with and for Organiz-ER since December of 2019 as both an employee and now a freelancer and the change I have seen in this organization is unmatched. The drive and ambition to grow have never been higher and the entire team is so incredibly motivated. Recently, I have worked on updating the company's website as well as creating new marketing materials such as a case study, testimonial graphics, handouts, etc., and the feeling of being able to help make a 20-year-long dream a reality is a satisfying one. I am not entirely sure what inspired me to make this slightly more sentimental post other than the fact that I am so proud of this team and what it is growing into. And, of course, would it be LinkedIn if I didn't plug them a bit? Organiz-ER is currently accepting new clients and I would love to act as a connection between your business and theirs. The team at Organiz-ER is comprised of dedicated business professionals, and below I have outlined a couple of their most popular services: -Bookkeeping - Software Implementation - CRM Implementation and Upkeep - Transition Solutions (handbooks, company policy, employee transition process) - Security Protocol (WISP) I'll leave the link for their website in the comments below but if you feel like any of these services (or one I didn't mention that you think a company like this might offer) seem like what you need, feel free to send me a message and we can get you connected!

A new role can be pivotal, but also full of potential pitfalls. Here are five common challenges to be mindful of: 1) Unclear Expectations: Without clarity on what your boss or team expects, it’s easy to misalign priorities, waste effort, and face misunderstandings. 2) Imposter Syndrome: That nagging feeling of “not being good enough” can erode confidence and impact performance during the critical onboarding phase. 3) Information Overload: With so much to learn—processes, systems, culture, and people—it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and risk burnout. 4) Overcommitting: Trying to take on too much, too soon, without fully grasping the role or company can lead to missteps and exhaustion. 5) Neglecting Relationships: Building relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders is crucial for long-term success, yet it’s often overlooked in the rush to deliver. Recognizing these challenges early can help set the stage for success in any new role. #Leadership #Onboarding #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment

One thing we didn't consider when deciding to work through Christmas - all of our clients are taking time off. This means other than pre-determined jobs, there isn't a lot we can do for them over the break. Instead, we're going to use this time for catching up and preparation for 2024. It can be all too easy to neglect innovation and goal-setting within your own business when you're so focused on client results and delivery. The studio space needs a few more coats of paint, our social media needs a revamp, and our business plan for Ace needs to be revisited and adjusted to take into account any progress we've made in the last few months. One thing we've learnt over the last few years is that proactive behaviour is the key to getting ahead. If all you do is react when situations crop up, you'll forever be on the back foot, rushing around and struggling to progress as you play catchup 24/7. Here's to entering 2024 prepared and ready for whatever challenges come our way 🥳

There is a trend that I’m noticing in the touring industry that is alarming and disappointing: lack of professionalism. If you work in the touring industry or really industry, you understand that things don’t always go as planned. Things get cancelled, dates get pushed, etc. However, that’s not an excuse to treat your management team and crew like they are expendable. Not communicating, not paying on time, arguing tooth and nail about just simply decencies we need when working back to backs on 20 hour days. Stringing a crew along so they don’t take other work with hopes of a start date. It’s unacceptable. It’s causing good people to walk away from the business because they don’t feel respected. And honestly, I don’t blame them.
