I'm seeing several jobs advertised for accessibility specialists. Every single job description I've read in the last month are including tasks and responsibilities that should really be the job of 2, or even 3, people to complete, not for a single individual to do. Every single job that is posting a salary is offering a salary well below what should be expected for jobs that complex. It's almost as if accessibility jobs/tasks are misunderstood by the employers, and undervalued.

“Ideal for young professionals” usually means they don’t want to pay much, but that’s okay because younger folks are usually just so grateful they have been offered a job at all that they won’t try to negotiate. 😅 As if to emphasize this, the job posting contains the following: Hiring range minimum = please inquire. Hiring range maximum = please inquire. Not even a Salary Band reference that someone can go try to unearth from the bowels of their HR website. 🤦♂️ This is one big reason higher ed staff jobs are perceived as inaccessible. #salarytransparency needs to be more of a thing in higher education hiring!
