This #WellbeingWednesday let’s shine a light on stress in the workplace! While some stress can be a good thing, too much stress can have a disastrous affect on our psychical and mental health. It’s important that employers spot the early signs of stress in the workplace to avoid employee burnout. Here are 6 key things to watch out for: 1) Arguments Staff fall outs become commonplace and relationships between teams begin to falter. 2) Higher staff turnover The number people leaving the organisation increases, and it becomes a struggle to keep new employees. 3) More reports of stress Managers and HR departments receive more complaints about stress and stress related symptoms. 4) More sickness absence Staff begin to take more time off from work due to illness brought on by workplace stress. 5) Decreased performance Employees fail to reach KPIs and miss deadlines they would normally achieve. 6) Increase in complaints Staff become frustrated with the workplace environment and start to raise grievances. Ignoring mental health in the workplace costs money in addition to being unethical. This is the reason why: 1. Decreased Productivity Employee disengagement stems from untreated mental health disorders. A decrease in efficiency and focus can impede advancement. 2. Increased Absenteeism More sick days are frequently the consequence of mental health issues. Project timeframes and team workflow are disrupted by frequent absences. 3. Higher Turnover Rates Lack of assistance may cause employees to quit. High turnover results in expenses for hiring and training staff. 4. Depressing Workplace Morale A poisonous work environment arises from disregarding mental health. Job satisfaction and team chemistry are impacted by low morale. 5. Legal Risks Insufficient mental health care may result in legal issues. Failure to abide by regulations could lead to expensive legal action. Mental health investments are not only a moral decision—they are also a wise business move. Making mental health a priority improves output, lowers expenses, and creates a happy work environment. Let's change the emphasis from expenses to advantages and establish encouraging work conditions. 🌟 #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceWellbeing #Productivity #MentalHealth #BusinessStrategy

Organisations must realise that excessively pressuring employees and using tough tactics to boost work performance doesn’t actually work. In fact, it can make things worse by harming employees’ mental health and making them less productive. This doesn’t mean organisations can’t drive their people or have high ambitions; rather, they should prioritise understanding their people, as true performance naturally follows when employees feel valued and supported. #BELIEVEPHQ
