The Sept. 30 renewal deadline for the Farm Bill, a package of agricultural legislation passed by Congress every five years, has come and gone. On Nov. 16, 2023, President Joe Biden threw the existing Farm Bill a lifeline by signing into law the Further Continuing Appropriations and Other Extensions Act, 2024. This extended the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, a.k.a. the 2018 Farm Bill, so authorized programs can continue through Sept. 30, 2024. In addition to supporting farmers, ranchers, forestry stewardship, disaster assistance and other vital agricultural programs, the 2018 Farm Bill categorized hemp—the plant cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant—as an agricultural commodity and federally legalized industrial hemp with a tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) concentration of less than 0.3%... ✅ Read the full article ⤵ https://lnkd.in/gjQXYCNG #Hemp #Cannabis #News

Results of a new Rothamsted study suggest that nature-friendly solutions like companion cropping could help... Presence of cereal volunteers in oilseed rape (OSR) fields and direct drilling could lead to a marked reduction in damage caused by cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB). The results suggest that relatively simple changes in crop management could help control this ubiquitous pest which, in recent years, has led to many farmers abandoning the crop altogether.
