I attended my first CoreNet Global event in London yesterday for their annual Predictions and Resolutions , hosted by an inspiring panel; Adam Hoy, Susannah Streeter, Jane Muir-Sands and Chris Kane. My 3 takeaways: 💡 The relationship between people and place is being redefined, and in a volatile and uncertain economy, it is clear that organisations are navigating a competitive landscape. In order to be the employer of choice, organisations must offer dynamic workspaces to attract and retain talent.   💡 The hybrid working world is here to stay and not just an experiment, however, as Susannah stated ‘we want efficiency but not at the cost of isolation’. As human beings, we have an innate need to build connections and foster positive social interactions which can be very difficult from our ‘home office’. 💡 A workspace has to inspire it’s employees to want to come together. Whether through best-in-class facilities, holistic employee experiences or harnessing advanced innovations and technologies, employers must aim to foster collaboration, creativity and importantly efficient working.   The key question is, how do you know what your employees want and need from their workspace? Reflecting on the session, it's great to see how ART Health Solutions are at the forefront, applying people-centric data science to provide organisations with the evidence-based insights that support their adaptation to the modern, evolving needs of their workforce. The result is retaining healthy and high-performing talent, inspiring employees and staying ahead of the competition. 🚀 Excited to share some highlights from the #INGRoup2024 conference in Charlotte, NC 🚀 In a joint session with Marvin Grabowski, Liana Kreamer, Ph.D, and Bishan Wang on Hybrid Teams, I got to present my new research on a more nuanced approach to understanding and operationalizing hybrid work beyond the typical WFH percentage. By considering factors like alignment in office days among team members, we can better capture the complexity of hybrid work and study its impact on work outcomes. 🔍 ➡ Key Insight for Better #HybridWork Focus on alignment in office days: Such alignment will help reduce perceptions of uncertainty related to the work location of fellow team members and enhance employee performance and satisfaction. Another highlight was the inspiring keynote by the Early Career Award winner Anna Mayo. She emphasized the importance of "wandering" in our professional lives. Echoing Kara Lawson's words, "If you have a meaningful pursuit in life, it will never be easy," Anna advocated for exploring fields and subjects related to our research but not directly within it. While this may seem counterproductive, it often leads to meaningful insights and epiphanies, allowing us to see the world from different angles. 🌍 ➡Takeaways on #Wandering Broaden Your Horizon: Don't be afraid to dive into areas adjacent to your main field. Let curiosity guide you to new knowledge and innovative ideas. Beyond the knowledge-driven content, two social events stood out. The Friday night event at the NASCAR museum was a blast! We drove simulators and performed a pit stop with fellow conference attendees, showcasing our teamwork skills. 🏎️🏁 Additionally, the social meet & greet for students, which I organized as part of my role as the Student Representative on the INGRoup board, was a huge success and a lot of fun. 🎉 ➡#SocialHighlights Forming connections: Organizing and participating in social events during professional conferences fosters valuable connections. Ahead of her appearance at WORKTECH24 Munich on our expert panel, Re-Shaping the Way we Work, Stephanie Brisson, Head of Workplace at GetYourGuide, offered her insights into the future of corporate workplace. 🔮💼 ❓ What are your thoughts and perspectives for the corporate workplace of the future? The future workplace will be a place anchored in the strategy of the company and reflect its authentic culture. It’ll be a diverse and flexible environment, from the start and by design. It’ll be an inclusive environment, where people of all backgrounds and with varied profiles can work alongside seamlessly. Because companies’ values are all different, and they have employees with very different ways of working, thinking, moving, etc…there will never be one size fits all. ❓ What are the challenges of delivering workplace experience true to brand, culture and people? Different generations, backgrounds and job roles inevitably have varying expectations for their workplace experience. The biggest challenge is to find the right balance between these diverse needs and preferences of employees while maintaining a unified brand and culture. There is also a need to localise that experience for different markets or geographies, to make sure it translates to the local employees in the spirit it is intended to be. ❓ How can organisations effectively crack the hybrid work model to create balanced in-person and remote work environments? The model a company chooses needs to be rooted in its culture. It’s about finding what works with your business, not about imposing rules. The key to success is to be crystal clear on the fundamental principles and align everything according to those. Behaviours, tools and environments need to be aligned with those principles for the model to be successful. Collecting feedback and staying open to possible iterations is crucial to maintaining a holistic unity in the system. It’s also about communicating expectations clearly, with a clear “why“. In our case, the Why is directly linked to who we are: we create unforgettable experiences, which happen in person, so we want our ways of working to be aligned with this. Last week, we were lucky enough to gather (most of) the Reloop team in a fantastic co-working space...
