Yet, companies often ask for unpaid design work during hiring, exploiting our efforts without offering compensation or even a job. This trend isn't just unfair—it's exploitative. 💡 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸: Designers invest hours into tasks tied to a company's products, only to see their work used for free. This devalues our work and sets a harmful precedent within the creative industry. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁? Industries reliant on creativity shouldn't undervalue the very foundation of their innovation. The blurred lines between showcasing skills and providing free labor must be addressed. ✨ 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ✨ We must push for ethical hiring practices that respect every candidate's time and effort. As a design leader, scaling up and growing the team is an ongoing process. Hiring new talent is always tricky. Especially these days with Ai being used very frenquently by everyone, it’s getting far too difficult to differentiate a good genuine designer from someone who has tweaked someone else’s work available on Behance and shared it as his or her portfolio. It’s very sad scenario and a lot of time gets wasted to sort out such individuals. Are you ready for the weekend? Hey guys, Like I always preach, the weekend should be used to learn something new. Take some time off to learn something that adds to your knowledge and, overall career growth. I so much believe that luck meets the prepared soul. Be prepared and be intentional about your growth as an individual. Lastly, do something that you haven't done in a while, like reading a book or reviewing your goals for the year. I am sure quite a number of us haven't reviewed our goals for the year. Use the weekend for that; celebrate every step, and do not beat yourself down if you are lacking in some areas. I use a small LG Electronics TV in place of a monitor (I had to raise it up to my eye level, and it gets the job done pending the time I get an actual monitor) and my laptop (don't let me show that one for now 🤣). One of my best investments this year is the oraimo accessories mechanical keyboard. I so much love it.
