So, you want to become a Salesforce admin? How do you get noticed when you have zero experience? Get your hands dirty. Here are 3 hands-on projects to try out: 1. Clean-up existing data and create custom reports and dashboards to display the data. 2. Upsell existing customers by analyzing their interactions, then building marketing campaigns to maximize revenue. 3. Build a Field Service Lightning Solution from start to finish, including scheduling, dispatching, and monitoring service appointments. These projects will give you a thorough understanding of the Salesforce platform. But, more importantly, they'll give you a portfolio that recruiters and hiring managers can see. So, take a deep breath and start building. Your dream job is just a click away.

As a new Salesforce Administrator, your elevator pitch is your ticket to that first job (especially working in NYC). It took me a bit to develop mine, but it really comes down to these tips: Emphasize your problem-solving skills and passion for streamlining business processes. Showcase your understanding of Salesforce's impact on business operations and customer relationships. Mention any relevant transferable skills from previous roles or education. Practice articulating how you can add value to an organization's Salesforce ecosystem. Conclude with your eagerness to contribute to a company's CRM success. Regular refinement of your pitch will boost your confidence and help you stand out in the competitive Salesforce job market. Optionally, highlight your Salesforce certifications (I received my first certification in 2021).

A manufacturing company was trying to hire a Salesforce Developer. We found them a few that they really liked, and they made an offer to one of them. But that developer had already accepted a job with another company. A lot of times this would mean starting the search from scratch. Wasting a lot more of management’s time and waiting to start critical projects until they got the right person on board. But we’ve seen this situation before. So we had B & C candidates - who were just as qualified - ready to go. We keep talking to everyone on the short list, even when it looks like the job might go to someone else. Because so often, it doesn’t. And we want the companies we work with to get a great Salesforce professional on their team even if their first choice takes an offer elsewhere. But if you don’t stay in touch with those 2nd & 3rd place candidates. If you don’t keep communication open… Then if you do need to reach out to them. They’ve probably taken another job, too.

Question for Salesforce Admins: I created a pick list field two days ago, and it has not been reflected in my org two days after. What could be the reason for the field not showing? For context, I have previewed this field on Page Layout, and it is visible to my profile. Name of field: Job Type; Data Type: Picklist; Is it visible from the FLS on the profile? Yes. Kindly share your opinions here. #Salesforceadmin #Salesforce #Salesforceappdevelopment #Salescloud

Post an open Salesforce Admin role on LinkedIn, and you can expect 500 applicants. And if you’re willing to sift through those, then you can probably find the right person. But post a job for a Salesforce tech arch, who needs experience in association management software? Posting that role on LinkedIn is just going to bring in a flood of unqualified candidates. And the people who seem “almost right” are actually miles off. We’ve spent the past 14+ years digging into Salesforce talent. So we know the difference between a great all-around developer and the hyper-focused tech arch who can help bridge Salesforce with NetSuite. And it’s those really specific roles where we can help save you a ton of time sifting through resumes… …So you can get these projects off the ground and start making the best use of those million-dollar Salesforce licenses.
