Opinion, women must be included in every stage of the risk reduction process. Did you know that disasters are sexist? They disrupt women's livelihoods and increase the burden of unpaid work in the home. Disasters worsen gender-based violence and they put women's health at risk. For example, in the news this month, "Working in extreme heat can double the risk of stillbirth and miscarriage for pregnant women, according to new research from India." Did you know? In a landmark move towards menstrual equity and the well being of women. India is poised to introduce its National Menstrual Hygiene Policy. One of the central objectives of this policy is to position menstrual health as a crucial public health concern. Having spent years working with NGOs and educational institutions to raise awareness of menstrual hygiene, I hope that the policy give females the opportunity to take on leadership roles and act as catalysts for change in their local communities. I believe that the taboo around menstruation is a significant barrier to women's empowerment and how women and girls perceive themselves via their gender identities rather than their own selves. What would you like to be added in the policy? #menstrualhygiene #menstrualhealth #MHday2024

#Why_women_health_is_least_priority_in_India. Women's health is often a low priority in India due to deep-rooted socio-cultural norms and gender inequality. Patriarchal attitudes prioritize men's needs, while women's health issues are stigmatized or dismissed. Limited access to education and healthcare, financial constraints, and a lack of awareness further exacerbate the problem. Additionally, systemic issues like inadequate healthcare infrastructure and policy implementation gaps hinder progress. Efforts to improve women's health are frequently undermined by these intersecting factors, perpetuating a cycle of neglect and disadvantage. #Womens_Health #Startups #Healthcare #FemTeach #Research
