Drones with weaponised payloads are the new guerrila warfare. Guerrilla warfare, in contemporary perspective, is often associated with communist inspired insurgencies in Latin America, Africa, and Asia in the 20th Century, but first manifested in its modern form in Spain in response to the Napoleonic invasion in the early 1800s. Previously deployed through a mode of mobile and agile force attacks using small arms, technology has now evolved to enable guerilla (lit. ‘small war’) attacks via weaponised drones. Their small size and aerial profile make them hard to detect or distinguish from prosumer or commercial drones; but even small payloads can cause damage, disruption, or lethality when precisely deployed. https://lnkd.in/gjH4nNBD

This particular design is probably the most promising in the current mutation of high-intensity warfare, all the more so when it meets its destiny : integrated AI.

The ongoing war in Ukraine has taken another grim turn, revealing the depths of despair and hopelessness among Russian soldiers on the front lines, according to Kyiv Post media outlet. İt is noted that Russian soldiers, upon hearing the approach of an FPV drone, are holding unpinned grenades to their heads. If the drone misses, they throw the bombs away; if hit, even with non-fatal injuries, they release the explosives, leading to an instant, gruesome self-inflicted death. This alarming behavior is an unambiguous indication of an army in crisis – demoralized, leaderless, and drifting. The lack of proper medical care and evacuation protocols have left these soldiers feeling abandoned and without hope. It is a tragic and heart-wrenching sight – a spectacle that stresses the urgent need for continued support for Ukraine in their fight against Russian aggression. It is clear the Ukrainians are not facing a motivated, well organized and committed enemy, rather conscripts and unwilling combatants forced into war with no trust in their commanders or their comrades. No doubt as soon as Moscow finds out about this quick exit from the battlefield, it will no longer issue grenades to its pawns of war. Now is the time for the international community to redouble its efforts in supporting Ukraine’s Armed Forces. They ask not for soldiers, but for the tools to defend themselves – weapons and ammunition. With these resources, they can continue to push back against Russian aggression and protect their sovereignty. The Western world must stand united in its support for Ukraine, not only for the sake of the Ukrainian people but for the preservation of democracy and the global order which, at the moment, is teetering on the brink.

Ukraine to unleash robot dogs on its front lines - Ukraine could soon unleash robot dogs on its front lines, replacing soldiers for perilous missions like spying on Russian trenches or detecting mines. - At a demonstration in an undisclosed part of Ukraine, the metallic dog known as model "BAD One" stood up, crouched, ran and jumped according to commands transmitted by its operator. - Stealthy and agile, they could soon become an invaluable ally on the front line for an Ukrainian army that is short on manpower to repel the Russian invasion, its makers said. - Low on the ground and therefore difficult to detect, the robot dogs can use thermal imaging to inspect enemy trenches or the inside of buildings in combat zones. - Useful for detecting mines or improvised explosive devices, the robot dog can also be used to carry up to seven kilos (15 pounds) of ammunition or medicines to hot spots on the battlefield. https://lnkd.in/eAnxSh5C
