How amazing is the power of umbilical cord blood??! Umbilical cord blood is a beautiful source of blood stem cells that can be collected at the time of birth with no risk to the mom or baby. This blood can then be processed and stored for use as a stem cell donor for patients needing a bone marrow transplant. It is especially important for those patients who can not identify a suitably matched related or unrelated donor because it offers access to a life-saving bone marrow transplant when the patient needs it most. Access to cord blood donors helps make sure that today, there is a blood stem cell donor for nearly everyone who needs one! #donorforall #cordblood #cordbloodtransplant
Elliott's journey to transplant is a powerful reminder that you're more powerful than you think. When you donate your baby’s umbilical cord blood, you give hope to patients like Elliott, whose care team found a cord blood match for her. Over the last four years, I've donated my hair twice to support cancer patients. Each time, I’ve been reminded of the power of small actions in making a significant impact. Why I Do It: Restoring Confidence:A wig can truly help someone feel like themselves again during a challenging time. Building Community:It’s about connecting with those who are fighting cancer and showing them they are not alone. If you’re considering donating, I encourage you to take the plunge! Your hair could bring hope and joy to someone in need. Let’s spread awareness and inspire others to join this meaningful cause. Together, we can make a difference—one haircut at a time. #HairDonation #CancerSupport #CommunityImpact #MakeADifference

Today is National Donor Day. Today we celebrate the lives of those who were and are donors and the honorable cause they are giving to. Cancer patients and those suffering from other diseases need donations every day. Donors have a tremendous impact on the lives of those in need of donations as well as their families. There are five different types of donations: Tissue, Blood, Marrow, Organs, and Platelets. Take action: consider registering for a matching system to be paired with someone in need of a donation. Talk to your family about organ donation. Consider taking some time out of your day to donate blood. There are many ways to make an impact as a donor and the lives of many will be greatly impacted by one single donation. Make an impact in countless lives today by being a donor! #VieCure #NationalDonorDay

Hi again friends and connections and Happy Dry July Eve. Last Tuesday I posted that I was participating in Dry July to raise funds to help people suffering from cancer. I set myself a (apparently too modest) target of $500 (AUD) for the month of July. Well, that target was passed on about 28 June, so I have had to revise my fundraising target – I now think that $1500 is achievable. With almost 2,000 connections between LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, I just need a hit rate of 10% of all of you to donate $5 (you can’t buy a drink for that anywhere), and then I’ll get to the $1,500 with room to spare. If you are donating in Euros, GB Pounds, or US Dollars, I’ll be happy with 3 (euro, GBP, USD). This is also a little bit of an experiment about the social medial algorithms. We know that posts don’t go to all our friends and connections, so improving the reach of this post is really important. A huge thankyou to the people who have already donated and also to those who have commented on and shared posts – you are putting these algorithms to work to help cancer sufferers. One final thing, in preparation for Dry July, I have abstained from alcohol this week, so I have done the hard part – breaking the habit. I’m sleeping better and my clothes are ‘not as firm’. A win/win situation. If you want to get involved just go to this website www.dryjuly.com #cancer #dryjully #healthyhabits
Support John Phelan this Dry July and make a donation.
