Debunking the Myth: Green Hydrogen is Not Scalable Many also point to problems in scaling green hydrogen, related to the costs and also to the current lack of infrastructure and lack of adoption in various sectors. Yet experts have drawn wildly different conclusions about the near-term scalability and technological maturity of green hydrogen. In a 2022 report, the Ministry of the Environment predicted that by 2030 there will be between 65 and 180 GW of green hydrogen electrolysis capacity, which represents a remarkable 200-600-fold increase compared to what was available on the report's publication date. And by 2050, the European Commission in November 2021 expects that between 60 and 80% of total global hydrogen production will be green in 2050. Citing environmentally sound hydrogen-friendly policies in Europe, it also cites the history of rapid adoption of wind and solar energy as instructive. How quickly can electrolyzers be scaled up. During their fastest 15-year expansion periods this century, utility-scale wind grew by an average of 42% per year, and utility-scale solar grew by an average of 97% per year. By then, the Department of the Environment predicts that this figure will rise to 25% by 2050 and that green hydrogen will be a €10 billion sector. And in the report Hydrogen Costs 2021: Preparing to Scale explains that due to the drop in the price of electrolyzers, costs will continue to fall in the 2020s. This is due to the unique features of PWT technology such as modularity, manufacturing automation and material costs. #ELSAIndustry #IHTAG #Partnership #Greenhydrogen #Scalability #technology #sustainabilitymatters

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has just unveiled the Scheme Guidelines for the implementation of the "Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme - Component II: Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production and Supply (under Mode 2B)." This forward-thinking Scheme is designed to catalyze the production and supply of green hydrogen, aligning with three pivotal objectives: maximizing production, enhancing cost competitiveness against fossil fuels, and promoting large-scale adoption. The oil and gas companies, in collaboration with the Centre for High Technology, will play a crucial role as the implementation agency, fostering innovation and efficiency in the sector. This move is set to significantly boost the green hydrogen market by laying the foundation for a sustainable and competitive green hydrogen ecosystem. As India propels towards a greener future, this Scheme marks a paradigm shift in the energy landscape, promising a surge in clean energy production and a substantial reduction in carbon emissions. Our team has analyzed the objectives, incentives, restrictions, bidding process, selection process, and eligibility criteria that are applicable under the Scheme. #spiceroutelegal #energy #greenhydrogen #scheme #greenenergy #innovation #innovationinenergy #sustainability Praveen Raju Janhavi Joshi Amoolya Khurana Udepta Choudhury Chirag Rathi Dharmi Jilka Nikunj Baheti Devansh Kathuria Jay Shah Arpita Tripathy Pranjal Pandey Suyash Bhargava Shraddha Kotiya Shreshtha Garge
