The War in Sudan has indeed precipitated a severe hunger crisis, affecting countless individuals, especially those in vulnerable situations. Achieving the goal of Zero Hunger necessitates a comprehensive approach to providing aid and ensuring food security for everyone, particularly in conflict zones where access to food is severely restricted #sudan #SDGs #Agenda2030 #Goal2 #zerohunger2030

10 months have passed since conflict erupted in Sudan, changing life for millions of people. Half of Sudan’s children—approximately 14 million—now require life-saving aid due to the ongoing fighting. In the coming months, some families in parts of Khartoum and West Darfur states are also expected to face catastrophic levels of hunger that can lead to starvation, death, and extreme forms of malnutrition in children. Sudan is a north African country that is currently on the verge of breakdown, largely due to an on-going power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Watch the full report on my Youtube: https://lnkd.in/eSpsKED2 According to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Sudan is number one on their Emergency Watchlist. Over half of the population, around 24 million women, men, and children, are in desperate need of food, water, and medical aid. The destruction of critical infrastructure has led to food insecurity, leaving millions without access to sufficient food and unable to access necessary public health services. The conflict is destroying Sudan’s struggling economy and increasing poverty levels within the country. According to the International Monetary Fund, the Sudanese pound lost at least 50% of its values between April and October 2023. #sudancrisis #humanitariancrisis #internationalrescuecommittee #sudanconflict

There are children in Gaza. And they are HUNGRY. They are being STARVED by the man-made Israeli siege, in contravention of their rights. "Every day is a struggle for survival, finding food and finding water," says Thomas White Israel is holding children among #2MillionHostages, to “apply pressure” This is a crime against humanity “The entire population of Gaza, are in the crisis or worse levels of acute food insecurity”. UN Stephane Dujarric. “26% of Gazans, more than 500,000 people, have exhausted their food supplies and face catastrophic hunger and starvation.” 85% of the population displaced and 93% of Gaza’s 2.2 million population facing crisis-level or worse acute food insecurity. This is the HIGHEST share of a population facing severe and acute food insecurity in any given context since IPC started making these assessments 20 years ago. The situation is made worse by the DESTRUCTION of SANITATION facilities. This means that even in the south hundreds of thousands live in squalor. Soilwatch is helping the humanitarian agencies to monitor the food security situation in Sudan by providing satellite data about the changes in agricultural areas, which also have been affected by the conflict. The war in Sudan is causing the most significant hunger crisis globally, as reported by a United Nations agency. Over 25 million people are ensnared in a cycle of food insecurity, with 90% of the population facing emergency levels of hunger. The situation is exacerbated by the inaccessibility of many areas due to ongoing violence and interference by the warring parties. This conflict has resulted in the world's largest displacement crisis, affecting 18 million people in Sudan and millions more in neighboring South Sudan and Chad. #foodsecurity #sudancrisis #mena #resilience #foodsystems
