What does leadership look like at your hub / organization? At the Jax Shapers Hub, leadership follows this democratic structure. The Curatorship leads the Hub with the Curator and Vice-Curator roles being elected by vote every February. The Impact Officer, all other officer/chair roles, and project leads are selected via nomination or volunteered by individual shapers. Shapers are encouraged to volunteer for Leadership roles and it is in fact possible to propose new roles or a blend of roles to the Curatorship at any time - we are always willing to support you in your leadership goals and see how this hub can shape forward together! This is how we shape forward and create impact for our members and our community via our service work. The roles listed here are outlined in our Hub Charter which is revised with each Curatorship term. Jax Shapers, please review the Charter to see our best practices and policies, and always feel encouraged to discuss your leadership goals with the Curatorship. 💙

Read our past report, Implementing Systemwide Changes in the CSU, authored by Thad Nodine and Robert Gabriner. This report found that the Academy served as a catalyst in helping campus teams address resistance and take advantage of opportunities for substantive change through leadership, communications, and networking. As a result, the Academy appears to be well positioned, with additional supports and resources, to facilitate and deepen campus efforts to address long-standing issues such as equity. Maybe a bias opinion because I'm an agency product. The standout presentation for me was by Pepe Marais CEO of @JoePublic, talking about the fundamental human truth that drives business forward, a balance of heart and mind in finding purpose and leading meaningfully. He spoke about doing the inner work as a leader, because hurt people hurt people and healed people heal people. Very inspiring! #SanlamLeadershipConference2024

Organizations are not, nor should they be, democracies. All organizations must espouse and select members on the basis of their values. Organizations are set up to perform a mission. That is the reason for their existence. Organizations are means to an end. Recruiting, selection, development, promotion, and retention are the most important responsibilities of an organization’s leadership.
