What are the requirements to #GiveBlood?
So people older than 65 cannot /should not donate blood even if they are healthy and meet other criteria? This is not true in the United States though where older people can donate blood. Other countries specify the age limit.. Blood shortage here. Excluding donors older than 65 won't help. But I have not donated blood because I weigh less than 50 kg (110 lbs). Folks: How many of you have donated blood? I know Janice Janice Baker MBA RDN CDCES CNSC, BC-ADM has donated gallons of blood since she started. Thanks. Janice. 🌹 😊
I used to give blood in Japan when I was a student, but now I am getting rejected because I lived in Europe during the Mad-Cows Disease years.
Donating blood is vital, and we’re proud of our long-standing commitment to this cause. Recently, in collaboration with the German Red Cross, we organized a blood donation drive on #WorldBloodDonorDay, which saw a fantastic turnout: 151 Henkel employees participated, including 54 first-time donors. 🙌 We encourage everyone to consider donating blood - it’s a simple yet profound way to make a real difference! Your donation could save a life! ❤️
As a healthcare provider with a reactive hepatitis B antibody (I got a full dose [3 shots] of the Hep B vaccine), I received a letter from Canadian Blood Services stating that I can no longer donate blood (total disappointment). My donation on August 13 was amazing, though! This is something to know as well.
The requirements for donating blood (#GiveBlood) generally vary slightly by country, but here are the common criteria: 1. **Age**: Donors typically need to be between 18 and 65 years old. Some countries allow donations from 17-year-olds with parental consent, and others permit regular donors to continue after 65 with medical approval. 2. **Weight**: Donors must weigh at least 50 kg (110 lbs). This criterion ensures that the donor has enough blood volume to give safely. 3. **General Health**: Donors must be in good health on the day of donation. They should not have any ongoing illnesses or infections. 4. **Medical History**: Certain chronic conditions, like hepatitis or HIV, as well as some medical treatments, may disqualify a person from donating blood. 5. **Recent Travel**: Recent travel to areas with risks for certain diseases, like malaria, might require a deferral period before donating. 6. **Tattoos and Piercings**: A waiting period of 4 to 6 months is often required after getting a tattoo or piercing, depending on local regulations. 7. **Pregnancy and Childbirth**: Women who are pregnant or have recently given birth (usually within the past six months) are not eligible to donate blood.
The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) latest statistics are beyond belief: “By 2025, half of the world’s population will be living in water-stressed areas […]" And if water 💧was the key to life?
