Of the 4.2 million people in need in Northwest Syria, 3.5 million people are internally displaced. Over 3.6 million people fled years of conflict in their home country and are hosted as one of the largest refugee populations worldwide by Türkiye. The devastating earthquake in February 2023 has worsened the humanitarian situation in both countries, especially in Southeast Türkiye and Northwest Syria. Our projects in health, WASH, and food security continue to provide essential support to vulnerable communities. Together with our partners, we’re helping people rebuild the infrastructure and provide the most essential needs. That is how from January to June this year, we were able to support around 339.000 people. Our activities reached from medical consultations and psychological support to the supply of tents, hygiene kits and food. But our work doesn't stop here. 🚨 The devastating floods in Yemen have claimed over 57 lives and impacted 34,000 families, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. In response, IOM is scaling up its emergency operations to assist those affected, but the need for additional support is critical. The Organization is closely coordinating with local authorities and partners to deliver a comprehensive response to this crisis. As the humanitarian situation worsens, we urgently call for more international support to address the growing needs on the ground. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d5ceKYA2

The official statistics on the number of #Syrian #refugee family members still #missing a year after the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Northern Syria remain unknown. According to BBC News Turkiye, Among the missing are Hasret Kilic, who was pregnant with twins, and Irem Karaca, a 14-year-old who lost his family in the disaster. A year later, their fates remain unknown, with families searching for them in hospitals, care homes, and unmarked graves. The lack of definitive numbers complicates efforts, with the Ministry of the Interior not providing specific figures. Former Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu reported 297 people, including 86 children, were missing three months post-earthquake. Officially, 135 people are listed as missing, with 83 from Hatay. Authorities urge DNA samples from relatives to aid in identification. The Ministry of Family and Social Services identified 1,912 unaccompanied children post-earthquake, reuniting them with families or placing them in state care. The Association for the Solidarity of Earthquake Victims and Missing Relatives (DEMAK) has registered 145 missing individuals, including 38 children, and is advocating for intensified search efforts. 🔵 Establishing a universal database like findsuri for missing refugees abroad is essential. It would centralize information, facilitate identification and reunification, and ensure no refugee remains lost or unidentified, bringing hope and resolution to countless families affected by displacement and disaster. The United States is facing an alarming crisis of misplaced priorities. Just look at the numbers: • $24.4 billion to Ukraine • $11.3 billion to Israel • $1.95 billion to Ethiopia • $1.6 billion to Jordan • $1.4 billion to Egypt • $1.1 billion to Afghanistan • $1.1 billion to Somalia • $1 billion to Yemen • $987 million to Congo • $896 million to Syria • $9,000 per illegal immigrant entering our country Meanwhile, Americans who have lost everything to disasters like Hurricane Helene are being tossed a mere $750 from FEMA. This is insanity! Our leaders are pouring billions into foreign nations and supporting illegal immigrants while struggling Americans are left behind. This failure to prioritize the well-being of our own citizens is not just irresponsible—it’s a betrayal. These leaders should be impeached for their blatant disregard for the American people. It’s time to put America First again and stop these reckless giveaways.

Additionally, 10 tons of aid, including dry ration, clothing, medicines, and mosquito nets, are being sent to Myanmar and Laos. Operation Sadbhav continues India's commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the ASEAN region, which is integral to its Act East Policy.

It’s factual Ethiopia is facing a severe internal displacement crisis, driven by conflict, violence, and environmental hazards such as droughts and floods. Recent reports from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) indicate that over 5.3 million people were internally displaced in the country between 2021 and 2023, marking one of the most severe displacement crises globally. While governmental and humanitarian agencies are providing assistance, the specific vulnerabilities of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to climate-related hazards are often overlooked—both in the selection of camp sites and in the management of these sites—exacerbating the displacement crisis.

Millions of children every year suffer due to extreme weather events driven by the climate crisis. Almost 28 million children were affected by floods in 2022 alone. Devastating floods in East Africa and Brazil have recently displaced hundreds of thousands of people. SOS Children's Villages in Kenya and Aldeias Infantis SOS are now deploying humanitarian aid. #ClimateCrisis #ClimateActionNow This is the SOS Children's Village in Porto Alegre 👇

Flash Floods in Afghanistan, Urgent Humanitarian Aid Needed. The recent flash floods in Afghanistan has exacted a heavy toll on the country, claiming numerous lives and causing widespread destruction. Immediate humanitarian assistance is needed to address the pressing needs of affected communities, including shelter, food, clean water, and medical supplies. However, the crisis also underscores the urgent necessity for a comprehensive, long-term strategy to mitigate the impact of climate change in Afghanistan. This strategy should encompass measures such as infrastructure reinforcement, early warning systems implementation, community resilience building, and sustainable development initiatives. #afghanistan #flashfloods #humanitarianaid
