By surveying the bugs found within them each month our volunteers help stop polluters. Sewage and industrial spills shouldn't be harming our rivers but it takes evidence to make them stop. By training riverfly monitors we can press the Environment Agency and polluters to make a change. Just £50 will train a pollution spotter to walk their local beck. £200 will equip a pair of riverfly monitors to monitor a vulnerable stretch of river month after month. Netting session with Broadreach 🤩 🤝 Last week we did another netting session at Ascension, and this time, students from Broadreach joined us to assist. During the netting, we caught turtles for our capture-recapture research to monitor the population. 😕 Sadly, our sessions have shown that many turtles at Ascension suffer from fibropapillomatosis. ❗️You can help us save these sea turtles by donating so we can take them in for treatment. Swim Marathon update: 42km (26.2mi) in 37 days! I've also gone swimming at the lake the past 83 days. I'm planning to continue as long as I can stand the cooling lake water. WaterAid is an international non-governmental, non-profit organisation focused on water, sanitation, and hygiene. I believe every person has the right to accessible, clean water. With access to clean water, folks can live happier, healthier lives. Currently, 771 million people in the world—one in ten—do not have clean water close to home. WaterAid helps bring potable water to the folks who need it. So far, they have reached 28 million people. For every pound received, 74 pence goes directly to the source, delivering services and making change happen. And 26 pence goes toward fundraising and governance.
