🔎#WRF25 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: Deep-Sea Mining Deep-sea mining is being advanced as a potential resource strategy to meet the growing demand for critical minerals essential to renewable energy systems and emerging technologies. However, this practice poses profound risks to fragile marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and global ocean health. This is why many scientists and organisations have called for a #moratorium on deep-sea mining until its #environmental, #social, and #governance impacts are thoroughly understood. At WRF25, we aim to spotlight this critical issue, ensuring that the latest scientific research enables us to understand the full extent of risks and uncertainties for responsible decision-making by public and private sector actors.
