3 hours and 40 minutes on a call. 60 hours behind the scenes. And I loved every minute of it. I just finished presenting a “marketing” strategy to a client. But why is marketing in quotes? I had a request from a development agency to help them build a marketing system to acquire more inbound leads. Initially, by “system”, they meant ads and SEO. But even before sitting down and actually doing research, I knew we wouldn't be using these channels, they wouldn't be our focus. Why? Ads don’t build trust. SEO doesn’t help with networking. And we need more for agencies’ success. The most successful agencies in their space get most of their clients through: - personal brands with social selling techniques - partnerships and networking - thought leadership projects (but mainly for building trust) In addition, those agencies cared a lot about client experience, adding business value and avoiding commoditization. These factors can be powerful tools and messages for acquiring more clients and referrals. So, at the very end, our “marketing” strategy turned into a combination of channels from different areas – pr, partnerships, marketing (yes, we’ll be running some types of ads), and even sales. Can’t wait to get to implementing our strategy. So many things are still to be figured out but with such an open-minded client, you’re inspired to roll up your sleeves and do your best.
