On September 11, 2001, I was only two years old, too young to understand the gravity of what was unfolding... I remember my parents turning off the TV, and we spent the rest of the day outside, keeping us away from the devastation gripping the nation. The sky was clear, the air crisp and refreshing, a stark contrast to the dark cloud of sorrow that would forever change the world. Frank Billingsley once mentioned that the low that day at Bush/IAH was a cool 67°, almost ironic considering the warmth of unity that soon followed. Now, 23 years later, I’ve come to realize how deeply that day has shaped us. In the aftermath, there was a sense of unity, of coming together as one, bound by shared grief and a collective will to rebuild. Yet, over time, that unity has unraveled, giving way to division and separation. The lessons we learned from that day, about love, compassion, and the strength of standing together, seems to have faded. But we will #NeverForget. We will never forget the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the resilience that blossomed from the rubble. We must remember that days like 9/11 should not be the only reason we unite. We shouldn’t wait for tragedy to remind us of our shared humanity. Let today serve not just as a reminder of the past but as a call to action for a better future, one where we stand united not by sorrow, but by hope, compassion, and a collective desire for a world where we lift each other up, not tear each other apart. #NeverForget #Unity #Resilience #Compassion #HopeForTheFuture
