On February 23, 2022, the European Commission adopted a proposal for a directive on corporate sustainability due diligence. On May 24, 2024, the Council of the European Union gave final approval to the political agreement and completed the adoption process. The aim of the Directive is "Fostering sustainable and responsible corporate behaviour for a just transition towards a sustainable economy." Those new rules will ensure that companies within the scope identify and address the adverse impact of their actions on human rights and the environment, both within and outside Europe. #Sustainability #EU #Environment #HumanRights
