PETRONAS' Journey in GHG Management Innovation. At PETRONAS, through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), we are committed to managing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) through innovative solutions in Malaysia's upstream industry. We aim to achieve zero routine venting and flaring by 2030. MPM steers Production Arrangement Contractors (PACs) to optimise fuel gas use and validate equipment efficiency annually. Looking back at the Baram Delta Gas Gathering (BARDEGG-1) Project, which was Malaysia's largest gas conservation scheme, this pioneering initiative was designed to minimise wasteful flaring. Launched in the early '90s, the project, a collaboration between PETRONAS Carigali, MPM, Shell and OGSE companies, collected and compressed associated gas from five fields: Betty, Bokor, Baram, Baronia and West Lutong. With an investment of around RM1.4 billion at the time, BARDEGG-1 repurposed flared gas for offshore operations and re-injected gas into the Baronia field for reservoir management. This project reached a significant milestone with its first gas export in 1993, underscoring our long-standing commitment towards energy security while pursuing deliberate efforts towards achieving lower carbon, lower emission operations. ♻️🔱 [ The planning processes for developing and implementing new, innovative technologies like carbon capture and storage (#CCS) in Malaysia take place in quite a complex economic and technical environments. Such planning processes can easily become intangible and intricate due to their multi-level, multi-stakeholder and multi-issue characteristics. Gaining insight into current ongoing #PETRONAS / #MMHE Kasawari CCS Project; which its complexity and dynamics of these processes, can help future developers, decision makers and other key stakeholders involved in developing new CCS (or other innovative energy) projects ] ♻️⚕️ Malaysia's next significant new offshore gas project with an integrated carbon capture and storage solution is set for development by Petronas and #JXNippon Oil & Gas Exploration. The BIGST Cluster offshore Peninsular Malaysia has an estimated recoverable resource of 4 trillion cubic feet but has not been developed due to the high concentration of carbon dioxide CO2 in the gas. Petronas Carigali and JX Nippon Oil & Gas were last month awarded a production sharing contract for the project with 50:50 interests. Petronas said at the time that BIGST "is now primed for development and is the first high CO2 gas development in Peninsular Malaysia, incorporating carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology as part of its value offerings". The BIGST cluster was discovered in the 1970s, and comprises five undeveloped fields — Bujang, Inas, Guling, Sepat and Tujoh.

Facts You Must Know About Platform Resak Did you know how many platforms there are in Malaysia? According to Petronas Annual Report 2015, our country has a total of 349 oil and gas platforms, with 6 platforms having been decommissioned. All of these platforms operate across 198 fields. So for those looking to work in the oil and gas field, finding a job is definitely not an excuse. Roughly speaking, oil and gas in Malaysia are of very high quality. After all, our country can supply 35 types of oil and gas internationally. But today, we're not talking about the number of operational platforms; we're talking about a specific platform located in Kerteh. This platform is Platform Resak. Here are some essential facts you should know about this platform: 1. Platform Resak is one of the earliest established platforms because it operates under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with the Malaysian government. 2. It is fully operated under Petronas. 3. The Resak Platform project is a development project initiated by the Malaysian government, aligning with Malaysia's interests, which holds nearly 81.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. 4. It includes two offshore platforms and one onshore facility: Resak Drilling Platform A (RDP-A), Resak Central Production Platform (RCPP), and Resak Onshore Gas Terminal (Resak OGT). 5. Each section has its role; for example, RCPP is the heart of the Resak Platform as it houses facilities, power generators, living quarters, and more. 6. Under Petronas Carigali Sdn. 📢 [ Another potential CCS Project in the pipeline, off Peninsular Malaysia] ♈ #Petronas has signed production sharing contracts with multiple Asian players for two promising gas clusters, located offshore peninsular Malaysia. Petronas confirmed the development this week and said that the PSC deals have been signed through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) “for two discovered resource opportunities (DRO) clusters.” The first cluster, dubbed Bigst, has been awarded to a joint venture between Petronas Carigali and Japan’s #JXNippon Oil & Gas exploration, with each player holding a 50% stake. Back in December 2022, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) entered into a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with JX Nippon Oil & Gas Exploration Corporation (JX Nippon) to collaborate in developing a joint proposal to monetise the gas potential within the Bujang, Inas, Guling, Sepat and Tujoh (BIGST) fields, located offshore Kerteh, Terengganu. The BIGST opportunity was offered as part of Malaysia Bid Round (MBR) 2020, where it had received several proposals from interested parties. PCSB and JX Nippon were shortlisted based on the quality of their submissions and unique value propositions. BIGST is now primed for development and is the first high CO2 gas development in Peninsular Malaysia, incorporating Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology as part of its value offerings The second one, the Tembakau cluster, was awarded to a grouping of domestic players #IPCMalaysia and IPC SEA Holding, with 90% and 10% participating interest, respectively, the company stated. The Tembakau cluster comprises two undeveloped sweet gas fields, Tembakau and Mengkuang, which were previously awarded as a small field asset, the company added.
