Read all about it!! Hot off the press!! On behalf of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) Board, leadership, and staff, we are pleased to present the 2023-2024 AUPHA Environmental Scan and Trends Report, a biennial Report with two major sections: health industry and higher education. AUPHA is grateful for our consultants, the primary authors of the 2023-2024 edition - Timothy Gorton, FACHE and Jacob Victory; and their contributing colleagues Barbara A. Karpinska, MS, MBA, FACHE (Hopkins) and Ezedube Eze, LNHA, CDP, RCAL. Thank you to AUPHA’s Director of Education and Professional Development, Jennifer Munt, for her excellent management of this project; and to both Jenn and Jaime Stephens, CMP, CAE, AUPHA’s VP and COO, for their meticulous editing. This initiative was one of 11 in AUPHA’s current Strategic Plan for 2020-2024. Unlike most of AUPHA’s major member benefits which are for our 263 university programs and over 3,500 faculty and staff, we share this Report publicly, broadly, for the benefit of our healthcare management and health policy colleagues and our health professions and other higher education colleagues. #healthcareindustry #healthindustry #healthpolicy #healthcareleadership #healthcaremanagement #healthcareinnovation #healthcare #health #highered #highereducation #highereducationleadership #teachingexcellence #teachingandlearning #environmentalscan #trends #environnement #aupha #ache #aha #mgma #nahse #nalhe #cahme #ifdhe DAVID A WINSTON HEALTH POLICY FELLOWSHIP Jones & Bartlett Learning Peregrine Global Services Bluesky #academyhealth #aom Academy of Management AcademyHealth #education #educationalprograms

𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗵𝗶 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗶, we reflect on the values of service to humanity and empowerment through knowledge—principles that Mahatma Gandhi held dear throughout his life. At 𝗝𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, we are committed to applying these values to one of the most critical areas of public health: CPR awareness. Our mission is to improve the number of trained CPR individuals from the current 𝟮% 𝘁𝗼 𝟮𝟬%. 🌟 Dundee Community Craft have released a report put together by students from the University of Dundee School of Medicine analysing the social enterprise's impact. Key findings show that Dundee Community Craft - led by #MeWeMember Stephanie G. - supports the city's Drug Deaths Taskforce Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) standards, specifically MAT standard 6 which "focuses on the key role that positive relationships and social connection have to play in people's recovery". Alongside Glasgow, Dundee has been shown to have the highest rates of drug death misuse over the last 5 years. The research piece has found that the key areas of impact that Dundee Community Craft offers its workshop participants are: 👏🏿 Emotional Wellbeing 👏🏿 Social Cohesion 👏🏿 Skill Development & Wider Impact "The other activities are solely recovery based. It is nice to have something that isn’t just recovery focussed so that everyone can join. Everyone has a totally different experience." The craft based activities help to “increase confidence and [allow participants] to feel like [they] can try new things.” The report concluded that funding would enable Dundee Community Craft to further their impact across the city as the method of intervention was demonstrating positive results. Dundee Community Craft also sells craft pieces, and craft workshops to support their impact driven activities. Congrats to #MeWeMember Stephanie Graham, founder of Dundee Community Craft, for receiving this recognition and validation for the impactful work being carried out! 💥 Find out more about Dundee Community Craft's impact here: https://lnkd.in/gVD46qsW #Dundee #Creative #Craft #SocialEnterprise #Handmade #drugmisuse #ImpactReport #MAT

When a nation’s “success” includes commercial protections from making a population sick, it’s beyond time for reflection. It is time to think about the value of life relative to the nation’s policies and purpose of function. Is public administration based on a sickness model versus a wellness model? Doctors and medicine are commercially engaged in dealing with the aftermath of health problems. This brings a customer ("patient") into the clinics and hospitals for prescriptions and processes. Doesn’t this encourage a sickness model versus a wellness model? What if national success was measured in terms of a healthy citizenry? How would you introduce a wellness model into society? A few thoughts: - Rewrite laws to distinguish between the commercial person and the human person. - Introduce an education and exam process to become an elected politician that produces a public contract to hold them liable for intentional harm. - Create a patriotic media broadcasting of health-oriented societal and human conduct purposeful to a healthy and happy life and living of its people. - Design a health-oriented government run by a wellness committee whose expertise and purpose of function is optimizing human health through nutrition and health knowledge. - Create a constitutionally afforded at-par wellness currency to pay human persons to motivate eating and thinking healthy. - Develop a mathematical model that builds public credit versus debt (example: a $1,000,000 annual at-par health currency with healthy eating and lifestyle integrations paid to motivate the doing, taxed at 90% or 95% to leave $100,000 to $50,000 per human person, and $900,00 to $950,000 per person that builds government wealth to pay for optimized regional cultivation of edible species for more localized distribution). - Utilizing the credit system to build the optimized regional cultivation models for the human food supply based on health knowledge, nutritional intakes, and elimination of known toxins to recommend the best healthy ingestions possible for an entire population. - Introduce the wellness models into the schools to protect human identity and the future nation of people (https://lnkd.in/g9tbc7EE). - Empower an oversight committee whose work is based on purposed health research that can identify commercial leakage into healthy human conduct to attribute proximate cause of harm with liabilities incurred to commercial persons causing harm to human health. - Use the wellness government credits to support innovations based on regenerating the soils, and protecting the water, environment, and resources for the future generations of a healthy evolving society. What would you do to support a wellness model versus a sickness model?

I had the pleasure of spending time with Fonteyn Moses - Te Kani a couple of weeks ago to discuss some of the knarly fiscal challenges of working in the conservation not-for-profit space. Honestly, my brain has been buzzing ever since! One of the biggest shifts was finding the framework to showcase what we do. You see here’s the thing, everyone gets we are a conservation project, what I have been trying to convey is that we are so so much more. We are tangible social change, far more than we are conservation. Using ESG as the framework we deliver heavily across all areas, environment, social and governance. As an example, over the last few years we have been building a strong relationship with the local rural school. This year we invited our partners Save the Kiwi into that relationship, which resulted in us setting up health checks at the school, enabling students to be part of the processing of kiwi, the only school in the country to be able to do this. Below is a video of the students being prepped for the opening of the processing centre, led by Bodie, our Cultural Advocate and Educator. This is social change in action 😍 #socialchange #ESG #internationallyrecognised #nationallycherished
