What do we do with pain when it's chronic, yet not acutely physical? PRT, recently featured in WSJ, is quite a viable (and effective) option. Pain Reprocessing Therapy is a technique I often utilize in my practice -- PRT operates on the premise that the brain is misinterpreting the signals from the body as “dangerous” (and thus creating the sensation of pain) when there actually isn’t danger. "Most physicians are taught in medical school that pain is biomechanical in nature" - but there is so much more, especially with chronic pain.
