Today, I had the opportunity to attend Nintendo Live 2024 at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), a landmark event that not only showcased the vibrant and growing gaming community in Australia but also underscored the critical infrastructure supporting this booming industry. As the first Nintendo Live in the Southern Hemisphere, this event highlighted Australia’s increasing influence in the global gaming landscape, offering fans and industry leaders an incredible experience. The Australian gaming industry, valued at approx AUD $4.21 billion in 2023, is a significant economic driver and a huge cultural force. This market is expected to grow to around AUD $4.6 billion spurred by the rapid expansion of mobile gaming and the country’s robust digital infrastructure. Events like Nintendo Live are not just celebrations of gaming culture; they are testaments to the sector’s economic impact and its role in positioning Australia as a global gaming hub.
