🇩🇰 The city of Copenhagen is leading the way on cutting their food-related GHG emissions. What are they doing differently? 👇 🔹They took matters into their own hands and decided to change the food served in their public kitchens, amounting to 115,000 meals every day! 🔹The city reduced the number of meals with meat on their menus, leading to a 52% reduction in beef purchases and a 20% reduction of pork, and substituted these items with plant-based protein sources. 🔹By 2024, the city had reduced their food procurement emissions by 25%, a target that they had not expected to reach until 2025! Copenhagen joined the Coolfood Pledge in 2019, World Resources Institute's initiative to curb diet-related greenhouse gas emissions. Bravo, Copenhagen! I'd love to see other cities following this path. At this point, "taking matters into [our] own hands" may be necessary for many. Kudos to the #coolfoodpledge
