#MercatorOcean took the floor at the "High Level Event on Ocean Action: Immersed in Change"! ⬇️ Our Director General, Pierre Bahurel, joined a panel discussion on "Satellite Technology for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of the Ocean." 🛰️ The panel highlighted the critical role of satellite and in situ observations in monitoring the Ocean. By integrating these observations with models, we can create a comprehensive digital representation of the Ocean, paving the way for the development of the EDITO - European Digital Twin Ocean 🌐🌊 This innovative approach is essential for policymakers and decision-makers, providing them with the tools needed to make informed decisions about conservation, mitigation, and adaptation strategies. As we look ahead to the Third UN Ocean Conference in June 2025, events like this foster the exchange of best practices and successful experiences related to Ocean governance and health, driving forward national, regional, and global solutions. #SustainableOcean #UNOceanConference #UNOC25 #BlueEconomy

Delighted to support this article's development and making progress towards the Ocean Enterprise Initiative's mission. As referenced in this article, "Ocean data and services are still viewed as nonessential rather than mission critical assets; ocean observing is not recognized as a distinct market sectoring meriting investment, and the economic value and job creation potential remain largely invisible." Our goal is to change that. 🔗 Read the Ocean Enterprise article from the June Issue of Sea Technology Magazine: https://lnkd.in/grk5sKVg
🌊 Exciting News! 🌊 The June issue of Sea Technology magazine is now available! 📘 We are thrilled to announce that our latest article, "The Ocean Enterprise," is featured in this issue. Dive into the critical insights on how the Ocean Enterprise—comprising public, private, nonprofit, research, and academic sectors—plays a pivotal role in addressing pressing societal challenges such as climate adaptation, hazard resilience, ecosystem preservation, and sustainable blue economic growth. 🔗 Read the Ocean Enterprise article from the June Issue of Sea Technology Magazine: https://lnkd.in/grk5sKVg MTS would like to thank the following for contributing to this article: Brendal Townsend, Zdenka Willis (Past President, MTS), Chelsea Bladow (MTS) Caisey Hoffman (MTS), Donna M. These are exciting times, Deepali Bidwai and I began an Omdena challenge with Bôndy over a year ago, to explore how small field owners could leverage drone data to monitor trees [https://lnkd.in/ej7bRfFe], and slowly our project evolved into a fusion of modelled and reanalyzed meteorological data with Earth Observations to forecast growing conditions in fields. We presented the idea earlier this year at the EGU General Assembly 2023 [https://lnkd.in/ebMbj8Tx], and we are still working on the project: our most recent update is that our article "Integrated Approach for Tree Health Prediction in Reforestation Using Satellite Data and Meteorological Parameters" is published as a contribution to the 5th International Electronic Conference on Remote Sensing, in the section: Remote sensing Applications [https://lnkd.in/epycA7Ru]. This article was not the end goal; by 2024, we plan to develop a functional version of the demonstration website https://lnkd.in/edurCjCJ, and we look forward to providing you with the next update soon. #Reforest4Good
