I would like help bringing a lawsuit against those agencies responsible for ruining California ocean water quality to point of kelp forest collapse. As well as for not having access to reconditioned ocean water than can sustain the last of the wild caught red urchins for retail to public and to regrow kelp forest at the same time-thru natural propagation of Red urchin spawn in conjunction with cooled and filter ocean water. On behalf of the Giant kelp of Southern California, the Red Sea urchin (plus all it’s spawning inhabitants), and 3 generations of California kelp forest divers/harvesters (my dad, myself, my son-kelp forest dependents). No other family in California has contributed more to Red Urchin and Abalone fisheries than mine. We have paid our dues as kelp forest divers, we been in California kelp forest diving industry the longest, just watching it continually decline throughout my lifetime has been traumatic. It’s time for accountability and change. In order to create a sustainable future the proceeds will be designated towards documentation of the last 10 percent of the forest, as well as a new more sustainable way of supporting wild harvested Red Sea urchins that is aquaculture based. The new live whole restoration and education based retail procedure will enable the resource to not on educate but endure and restore at the same time. Without this lawsuit the kelp forest/Red Sea urchin and how they work, what they need to survive will continue to be overlooked. By understanding the kelps’, the Red sea urchins’ roles in working interconnectedly with one another we can gain clarity about our own “roles” as humans. What’s it means to be an American Native? Seems irrelevant but it’s the key to solving climate crisis/kelp loss dilemma, and it’s how Red Sea urchin spawn/kelp spawn work….in conjunction with eachother, coexisting. How we “act/behave” in relation to what’s around us is key to understanding the environmental and social situations we have been forced to confront, where we are at presently in history and how to move forward in a manner that makes sense. The kelp forest needs the Red Sea urchin to be an ambassador to public about what’s going on (problem/solution), what needs to be done. Human impact and water quality is what I want to address thru this lawsuit to benefit kelp forest and inhabitants/dependents.

Nature recovery to be accelerated as the UK government seeks to deliver on measures to protect land and sea. One year on since the publication of the Environmental Improvement Plan, the government launches new measures to halt and reverse nature’s decline. The new plans - announced one year on from the launch of the Environmental Improvement Plan – will see a permanent closure of the sandeel fisheries in English waters of the North Sea from April, further targeted restrictions on damaging bottom trawling and a new framework for national parks and protected areas to help them better deliver for nature. The government has also announced the recipients of £7 million of awards to improve lowland peat soils. Since the launch of the Environmental Improvement Plan a year ago, the government has delivered more than 50 commitments set out in the plan and the Environment Act. This includes: Implementing a ban on single-use plastics Planting nearly 5 million trees Accelerating the Sustainable Farming Incentive and launching a further 34 new Landscape Recovery projects – putting us on track to have 70% of land in ELMS by 2028 Launching a new species survival fund Beginning the process of creating a new national park and forest for the nation Significantly improving air quality with PM2.5 emissions down by 10% Improving access to the countryside by opening up a further 245 miles of the King Charles III England Coast Path. Polluters are today's environmentalists. The heirs of yesterday's polluters are becoming the allies of today's environmentalism. This is hypocrisy. On the difference between environmental protection and environmentalism: Some groups in the US and Canada are campaigning for moratorium on fishing. Moratorium on fishing punishes the victims and not the culprits. Factory trawlers, aquaculture and marine polluters are the real culprits. But it is the poor fisherfolk who suffer most under the moratorium. The Pew foundation supports the former US President Clinton's proposal of a five per cent reduction in gasoline usage to reduce global warming. Clinton is asking India and China to abide by it. India has rejected the proposal because 99 per cent of the gasoline is used in the US. This is environmentalism. Critics in the US - suspicious about the sources of the money - believe that these types of foundations are turning environmentalists into compromisers rather than principled campaigners. Every foundation talks about marine conservation, but no one wants to ban aquaculture. They do not realise the damage aquaculture has done in Asian countries. Policies such as these followed by the Pew foundation will only lead to further damage to the environment. This is the Price of Sustainability. In 2021 we reported a failing Environment Agency without the funding or the power to protect our rivers and wildlife. This week, The Guardian sets out how the regulator, set up to safeguard our rivers, lost its way and fails to protect freshwater species, disappearing at five times the rate of those on land. As the article points out despite the flood of pollution that plagues our rivers, neither the Labour nor the Conservatives have pledged to restore money cut from the Environment Agencies budget since 2010. The warnings cannot be ignored any longer. The Environment Agency urgently need the powers to protect our rivers ✊ https://lnkd.in/e89xJ5du

In honor of Groundhog Day, we’re still fighting against the same bad ocean and climate policy riders from last year’s House appropriations bills. (Didn’t we just send this letter?) Great to see strong engagement from ocean groups here urging the Senate to reject anti-environment riders in these bills. Here is but a selection from the tidal wave of riders with harmful consequences for our ocean, climate, and environmental justice: -Mandating offshore oil and gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska when we urgently need to transition away from fossil fuels; -Prohibiting NOAA scientists from studying the impacts of climate change on our nation’s commercial fisheries, threatening both ecosystem health and the fishing industry; -Prohibiting federal agencies from advancing the White House Ocean Justice Strategy and other diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility efforts; and -Gutting NOAA and BOEM’s efforts to protect critically endangered North Atlantic right whales and Rice’s Whales. The Senate must reject these and other anti-environment riders. Check out our letter for more. ⬇ #OceanClimateAction https://lnkd.in/g2x3BaXf
