This is amazing.
Do yourselves a favour Trauma Informed Law Collective and read paragraphs 97- 109 about how the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario adopted trauma informed guidelines to manage a trial (link in Myrna McCallum's post).
What becomes apparent is how adopting trauma informed approaches is good trial management, enhancing procedural fairness, forcing counsel to be more organised by giving notice, requiring counsel to really consider what evidence they need to obtain from witnesses, and having supports in place particularly for family members giving evidence.
What really resonated however was the Judge's comments about how adopting these approaches may restore some public confidence in the judicial system.
Imagine if this became common practice.
Judges adopting this approach is due to the advocacy of lawyers and barristers, particularly Myrna McCallum in Canada who us doing amazing work.

The judgment holds critical importance for the conservation of Indian bustards, a group of endangered birds emblematic of India's grassland ecosystems. Their dwindling numbers reflect the urgent need for focused conservation efforts. Preserving these majestic birds not only ensures the ecological balance of their habitats but also upholds India's commitment to biodiversity conservation. By addressing the specific challenges facing Indian bustards, such as habitat loss and poaching, this judgment reaffirms India's dedication to protecting its unique wildlife heritage while advancing sustainable development practices.
The judgment also holds immense significance beyond bustards, as it serves as a pivotal moment in shaping the trajectory of sustainable development in India. Beyond merely charting a course for the future, it encapsulates the essence of India's commitment to preserving its rich wildlife heritage.
India boasts a diverse array of flora and fauna, spanning from the majestic Bengal tiger to the elusive snow leopard, from the iconic Indian elephant to the graceful Indian peafowl. These species not only hold ecological significance but also embody the cultural ethos of the land, woven into the fabric of centuries-old traditions and beliefs.
In recent years, India has emerged as a global leader in wildlife conservation, implementing innovative measures to protect endangered species and their habitats. From establishing wildlife sanctuaries and national parks to promoting community-based conservation initiatives, the country has demonstrated a steadfast dedication to safeguarding its natural treasures.
Moreover, India's commitment to sustainable development extends beyond its borders, as it actively engages in international agreements and collaborations aimed at addressing global environmental challenges. By harnessing cutting-edge technologies and embracing renewable energy solutions, India is poised to transition towards a greener, more resilient future.
This judgment represents a balancing act between preserving India's cultural heritage and embracing the imperatives of progress and innovation.
It lays the groundwork for a future where development is not at odds with nature but rather harmonizes with it, ensuring a sustainable legacy for generations to come.
By addressing pressing issues like habitat loss and poaching, the judgment reaffirms India's commitment to safeguarding its natural treasures. It lays the foundation for a greener, more resilient future where development and conservation are mutually reinforcing, in line with the Prime Minister's vision of One Earth One Health.

A background in stats helps you make sense of your data, see patterns, and most important - understand if patterns are significant. You don't need to be a statistican to use JMP, of course, but a little good stats awareness can go a long way to making your work a bit more interesting.

The output is only as good as how you prepare, set up, practice, collaborate and consider all the details.
Performance, in anything, largely depends on creating the most optimal environment and conditions for success. In all the years of working is design and helping to build resonating, impactful brands, I have always shared with my teams the incredible importance of pre-production. Taking care of all the details, setting everything up for the most effective, beautiful and engaging output.
This too applies to setting ourselves up for our best performance and, while, as it relates to apparel, this has largely been focused on performance wear for athletes and those engaging in an active lifestyle where performance of the apparel is key (gear for extreme weather, gear that allows full movement, gear that allows breathability, moisture-wicking, non-chafing etc), it has not (largely) translated into performance wear for your best, most supported and considered performance as a teacher, a lawyer, a CEO, a business leader, a TV presenter, particularly as a women.
The clothes that women wear for all of these roles and so, so many more, need to be as carefully and thoughtfully designed as the performance wear for a runner, a climber, a dancer - because, setting up for success, the pre-production, of getting dressed each day, should be that thoughtful, that easy and that considered. For the best, strongest and most successful performance possible. behind the desk, at the boardroom table, in the courtroom and in the TV station.
