Several publishers are encouraging the creation of lay summaries to enhance public engagement with research. Lay summaries help individuals make informed decisions about their health and treatment options by distilling complex medical jargon into plain, understandable language. Empowering individuals to take control of their health is an important step towards better healthcare outcomes. While abstracts focus on conveying the crux of the research, Plain Language Summaries prioritize clarity and accessibility. . #healthcare #research #publicengagement

Freelance Health and Medical Writer | Quality, evidence-based heath content | SEO health copywriting
It's World Health Day! What does that mean? It's a day organised and led by the World Health Organization (WHO), agitating for better health across our planet. This year's theme is "Your health. Your Rights." The WHO encourages us this year to know our health rights. According to the WHO, you have the right to: 🩺 safe and quality care, without any discrimination. 🤐 privacy and confidentiality of your health information. 📋 information about your treatment and to informed consent. 💪 bodily autonomy and integrity. As a health writer, these rights are top of mind when I'm writing content for healthcare providers and product makers. I believe every person has the right to access quality healthcare, and that improving health literacy with quality information is one way to help people do that. What are you thinking about this World Health Day?
