This month we've taken a closer look at the impact of one of our Six Essential Practices, AFFIRMATION. By understanding how affirmation guides each and every WCC workshop, we can all continue to practice it in our own lives and interactions. This is how we do it: 💪 Support. WCC trains its volunteer facilitators in the WCC methodology, with a strong focus on giving authentic, detailed, affirming feedback to every writer. 💡 Purpose. Facilitators feel a sense of purpose when leading a workshop, they provide human and creative connection, and model the witnessing of authentic voice. 💜 Heal. Independent evaluations confirm that WCC workshops provide an essential first step in healing and recovery by validating human experience and affirming individual identity. In WCC writing workshops, everyone has the opportunity to explore the strength of their authentic voice. We all have a story, and through writing together, we discover ourselves. Life is the biggest school we can ever attend and graduate from. Empathy help us to understand others and build healthy relationship with our family, friends, and colleagues. During my teen years, I spent time with a family that treated me unfairly. I was expected to cook and clean for them day and night. I was not free to leave the house or to see my friends and family without their permission. There came a point in time where I realized that I had two choices: I could allow the way they treated me to change me or I could rise above their treatment, find reasons to empathize with them and their situation, and refuse to allow my heart to change because of the way they treated me. Empathy saved me from becoming bitter and jaded, developing a soul as ugly as the behavior they exhibited. It has allowed me to form healthy relationships with other people and is the cornerstone of my success. I am grateful that I had been taught empathy by my family growing up. I doubt I would have handled things the same way without that early training. Empathy was not a hot topic back in the late 1970’s, when I was going through my troubles. Today, it’s a subject of frequent discussion. However, there are few courses out there helping people develop their skills in empathy. When Robin Hills offered to include his course on empathy among EmpoweringHumanityTV.com’s classes, I was thrilled. I knew how important this was to help the members of the Empowering Humanity community improve their lives. Learn more at

Are you an instructional leader or coach seeking to enhance culturally responsive teaching? Check out the attached rubric, a joint effort by our DEI Specialists Jessica Jones, Angela Spitzman, Renée Green , and myself. One column explores Culturally Responsive Practice broadly, while the other focuses specifically on neurodiversity. This tool encourages educators to expand their outlook beyond race and ethnicity when practicing CRP. Acknowledging the complexity of culture and identity, encompassing diverse categorizations, this resource aims to support CRP by considering the lens of neurodiversity. Share your feedback in the comments – Cheers.

I write for me, my thoughts, my ideas, my experience. I want to share and in turn help you achieve success through positive leadership and education. If you think I can help, let’s chat.
If your not prepared to listen don’t ask the question. Sounds harsh I know, but it’s true. We don’t achieve success by guesswork, we achieve it by understanding the problem and addressing it from an educated position. We get there by listening and learning.

International Public Speaking Coach. TEDx Coach. Four #1 Amazon Bestselling Books. Eight National Public Speaking Titles. Hiking. Rugby. Star Wars. Cats. (Not necessarily in that order).
Imagine flowing effortlessly through your speeches. You know exactly what you what to say, and where you are going next. You barely glance at the slides, knowing where you are and what’s showing behind you. Your audience are nodding along, understanding the information and scribbling down your useful points. Whether you are given 5 minutes to speak, or 5 hours, you know the most important information to share with your audience. When you know how to structure your speeches, it gives you headspace on stage. It maybe doesn’t feel like that at the moment though. You have so much great information you want to share, but you don’t know how to prioritise it. You desperately try to cram in as much as possible, and what you do include you don’t explain properly. You are prone to going around in circles or off on tangents during your speech. When you are struggling to keep track yourself, how can you expect your audience to? There is one key principle to structuring your speeches. Less is more. Good structure is all about trimming the fat, and getting to the heart of your material. There is power in simplicity, and when you stop trying to do too much with your speeches, you then start doing what really matters. In this second module of a 5 week course, you will learn how to create simple structures for your speeches. Each of these live sessions can be attended individually and as a series. These live sessions are being filmed for an online speaking program I’m creating, which you will be given exclusive advance access to when you attend these live sessions. I've been working with the wonderful Tami Adams - Founder, Speaker Strategist, Speaker Coach on crafting my first speech for public consumption. During this creative and cathartic process, I am re-living all my grade school speech practices, I should dig up the one I did about my parent's renovation 🔨 . Tami and I have been finessing it but we need your feedback on the two titles we have in mind; which one do you prefer? 1. The Recipe for Success: Bake It 'Til You Make It or 2. Bake it 'Til You Make It : Step Into The Cookbook Of Life Thanks for your vote! Lisa (& Tami)
