FEL Scotland is excited to offer an innovative new programme for 2024/25. The new Climate Leadership Training Programme offers a series of training days and expert input, geared towards helping you better lead your community’s response to climate change. ⭐The closing date for applications is 9am, Monday 9 December⭐ The Climate Hub Leadership Programme aims to bring together 6 individuals, and the organisations they are based in, for a tailored training programme focused on building the resilience of communities in the Forth Valley and National Park region. The focus will be on how we adapt to our changing climate to ensure local communities are prepared for future change. The learning is divided into three themes: 1. Data & evidence 2. Storytelling & impact 3. Funding & development As a participant you and your organisation will receive: • One-to-one personal development support from FEL tailored to your individual needs. • Climate adaptation training and support over 2 days. • Organisational support from FEL under the three themes above. • A Climate Action First Step grant of £1,500 per person to use your learning from the course to benefit your community by developing a climate action. The programme will run from January-March 2025. • Deadline for applications 9am, Mon 9th December. • Successful applicants confirmed by 13th December with first training sessions booked in for mid-January. Stewardship and Leadership These two words are deeply intertwined in this context. Many of us aspire to be leaders—it gives us a sense of power, a platform to share knowledge, and an opportunity to influence others. But there’s a greater calling for our leadership, one that surpasses the next big project, the latest inspirational catchphrase, or even an executive agenda. Our most precious resource—water—needs both our leadership and stewardship. As we shop this Christmas, let’s pause to consider the water required to produce the goods we purchase and the waste generated in the process. These actions contribute to water scarcity, a challenge we cannot afford to ignore. Water sustains us; it’s vital for both living and loving. I believe in the power of story.  On a personal level, we need to understand our story.  Every one of us has a story that is either intentionally or unintentionally shaping our life. It is a story that helps us make sense of the world, informs our relationships, and defines our leadership. How we share and live into that story will determine the level of hope and impact we bring to others. On an organizational level, the same dynamic is at play. Organizations have a story that defines their values, mission, and the way they engage others. They need to be wise and discerning about that story and how it is consistently shared with and experienced by others. For an organization like GWC that has as its highest value connectivity and collaboration, this involves getting permission to share stories, highlighting other organizations we are collaborating with, and being honest and transparent in what we share about our work.
