There is a lot of talk about the workforce crisis in Connecticut. In my opinion, we exhaust a tremendous amount of energy talking about the problem. We know what the problems are, but we talk little about how we are going to solve them. While it is important and we continue to invest in workforce development, we still have open positions in the manufacturing sector. Clearly, investing in workforce development alone will not solve the problem - it hasn't solved the problem yet. In April, the Office of Manufacturing will be releasing our plan to full employment in the manufacturing sector. It is a survival plan that will share our vision, will aggregate current workforce development strategies across the state and introduce new initiatives from the Office of Manufacturing to get to full employment by 2030. If you are a manufacturing company that desires to get to full employment and maximize your business opportunities, you will want to attend. Carpetright to restructure with cuts to around 70 jobs Carpetright's decision to reduce its workforce by 25% in its central support centre and field management teams, resulting in approximately 70 job losses, reflects the challenges it has faced in its retail portfolio and revenues over the past eight years. Kevin Barrett, the CEO of Nestware Holdings, expressed understanding of the impact on the affected team members and emphasised support for them during this process. He attributed the restructuring to the need to align operating costs with performance and ensure the brand's future success in a tough economic climate. Despite the workforce reduction, Carpetright is focused on creating efficiencies in its supply chain and reviewing its technology platform to achieve a more cost-effective and simplified IT solution. However, the company remains committed to investing in its retail and customer experience in the coming year. It's worth noting that store numbers and services will not be affected by the restructuring, indicating a strategic focus on maintaining customer-facing aspects of the business. https://lnkd.in/gg3t5Y4k
