As both computer and mathematics scientist, he's led advances in AI ML, deep learning, computer vision, computational neuroscience. The Age of AI moving us forward into the Rise of Machines (Yes, I used a Terminator reference!). I expect philosophers, psychology researchers, religious leaders, and ethicists to debate, "What is a soul?" (Another reference to the movies, "AI" and "The Matrix".) In the future, can we code our biographies and digitized conversations into Machines to replicate ourselves in perpetuity? Is that a version of immortality? Is that responsible use of AI? What if you can speak to your Grandmother after she passes away? For the SciFi nerds, what we used to see in movies will probably be the reality for our children.
