Another example of how running legacy applications in the cloud is prohibitively expensive. “Bills went up 2.5x” and “We have a lot of data – and it turns out that storage in the cloud is one of the most expensive things you can do in the cloud, followed by AI in the cloud". In addition to costs spiralling out of control after a 10 year journey to the cloud, GEIC experienced reliability issues, reduced availability and excessive data “exfiltration” costs from public cloud to conform to its state regulatory data requirements. I know I have been banging on about this of late, but ultimately choice and flexibility should be the priority and a data strategy underpinned by Hybrid and Openness provides choice and flexibility and lets "you" identify the best place to run your workload both today and in the future. Where ever you decide to host your data or run your workload or execute your predictive analytics, you need a data platform that aligns to these 4 key principles H.O.P.S.
