From Barrow Boy to Fleet Manager on a Sliding Scale !

Hello, Just sharing this as our business is named after Ailsa Craig which is a bird sanctuary on the West Coast of Scotland. We need your voice to get a game-changing decision over the line - an end to industrial trawling for sandeels in Scotland’s waters. Sandeels are a vital source of food for our seabirds, including kittiwakes and puffins, which are globally threatened with extinction. As a staple food for other Scottish sea life, such as whales, seals and salmon, sandeels are essential to the health of our seas. But sandeels are under immense pressure. Overfishing on an industrial scale means hundreds of thousands of tonnes of sandeels are taken from the North Sea each year. None of the UK Governments support sandeel fishing, but they need to take key steps to stop it. Last week, the Scottish Government announced a consultation proposing to end industrial sandeel fishing in Scottish waters and we need you to send them a message supporting this ban. This consultation, together with the one for English waters earlier this year, would help end industrial sandeel fishing in UK waters. This is the single greatest action we can take to save our seabirds. Add your voice today to help Scotland’s globally important populations of seabirds survive. #sealife #nature #AilsaCraig #sustainability
