The advantage is you don't have to change the shape of the bone or cut the bone in any way. You just basically put the #ligament through 2 tunnels and then attach it by 4 screws. It's essentially substituting a broken ligament for an artificial one. The main advantage we tend to see is that dogs can start using the leg much quicker than with other techniques. Also, you only have 4 small implants, 4 screws rather than big plates. So it doesn't interfere with things like laser if you want to increase healing. Generally, the biggest advantage I've seen in the recovery part is that they can start using the leg very quickly, which is the main thing because most dogs that damage their cruciate will have a predisposition to damage the other one. During the recovery time, they will be using the good leg, and that can eventually suffer if they put too much weight on it. So you want them to start using the leg as quickly as possible. Floating a horse’s teeth is the process of gently filing away sharp edges or hooks to present a more flat surface that results in more efficient chewing. If you are the owner of a horse, it’s important to do routine visual exams to look for signs of worn incisors or changes in eating habits. Be sure that your bit is the proper fit, and your headstall is properly adjusted. Dental pain caused by the bit can often be misinterpreted as bad behavior. It is recommended that your horse receives annual dental checks. However if you notice these symptoms - dropping feed, not wanting to eat their hay/grain, quidding, tilting head from one side to the other, losing weight, or increasing salivation, they may need their teeth floated.
