Interested in international law and cyber-related issues? This one is for you!    The emergence of cyberspace has raised questions about the application of international law, potentially requiring the reinterpretation of existing rules or drafting new conventions. There are blocs of like-minded states – authoritarian and democratic – that take opposing positions to this legal reassessment, often reflecting their vital interests.    That is why Peter B.M.J. Pijpers suggests based on his analysis that states’ conflicting legal opinions regarding the application of international law to cyberspace should not only be assessed in the context of legal interpretations, but also understood as the deliberate deployment of legal power play by states as an instrument of power.    Please read the paper on our website: https://lnkd.in/eNC6ihSn

My first opinion on Kontekstual. In this writing, I focus on how the current International Law is ill-equipped to deal with PMSC which is often play in gray zone, while capitalist power within can exploit this to harm the local communities in conflict area.

Consider submitting to the Joint EJIL/JIEL symposium on Great Power Competition: What Difference does it Make to International Law? The deadline for submission of ideas is 2 December 2024, with publication of accepted papers in the first half of 2026.

Libralex Conference in Berlin on 06/07 and 06/08/2024 Three times a year, the representatives and members of Libralex meet for a weekend of exclusive professional and personal exchange. Following our meeting in Mexico in February this year, the next international Libralex conference will take place in Berlin, Germany, on June 7 and 8, 2024. This meeting will be hosted by the German Libralex member law firm BMT Büsing Müffelmann & Theye. The program will include experts' contributions from the fields of #DataProtection, #ITLaw, #ArtLaw as well as international civil law. For example, the #EUDataAct, #EUAIAct, #Nearshoring in Mexico, Data Protection and #OTTRegulation in Turkey, choice of law in #InternationalContracts and legal aspects based on recent EU regulations in relation to climate policy objectives will be outlined and discussed.
