The fourth class of Project SEARCH interns graduated from the WVU Medicine WVU Hospitals (WVUH) program today. Project SEARCH, first established at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 1996, is an internship experience for high school seniors or recently graduated students with mild and moderate disabilities. WVUH is the first site in West Virginia to host the program. https://lnkd.in/e2SC42DU

Getting rejected from medicine? One of the best things that has ever happened to me… I took a gap year as I still wanted to do Medicine. The gap year formed the basis of my character that I am today. Before my gap year I had: ❌ interests. ❌ social skills. ❌ experience on CV. ❌ knowledge on managing money. ❌ ability to sell myself during interviews. ❌ clarity on why I wanted to pursue medicine. ❌ proficiency to clean the toilets in the bathroom. After my gap year: ✅ Desire to get into BJJ fights ✅ Got into a better med school ✅ Saved up money for med school ✅ Strong desire to pursue medicine ✅ Too many great experiences for CV ✅ Get offers from almost every interview ✅ Ran three marathons + Great North Run ✅ Culturally aware from solo travelling to 10+ countries ✅ Only person that knows how to unblock a drain in the flat ❌ Support network from school friends ❌ Academically weak for the first year at med school If I was to rewind back in time to choose my rejection, I would still choose it. The next few weeks, I will be exploring my gap year lessons that are applicable to your life. Be sure to follow to learn more! Have you taken a gap year before?
