Antarctica plays a key role in regulating the global climate, and at Delver Agents, we are committed to operating sustainably. From reducing waste to promoting responsible practices, every action helps to conserve the region as a natural reserve dedicated to peace and science. Here are some things you can do to help protect the vast array of wildlife you may encounter during your Antarctic visit: -Do not use aircraft, vessels, small boats, or other means of transport in ways that disturb wildlife, either at sea or on land. -Do not feed, touch, or handle birds or seals, or approach or photograph them in ways that cause them to alter their behavior. Special care is needed when animals are breeding or molting. -Do not damage plants by walking, driving, or landing on extensive moss beds or lichen-covered scree slopes. -Do not use guns or explosives. Keep noise to the minimum to avoid frightening wildlife. -Do not bring non-native plants or animals into the Antarctic such as live poultry, pet dogs and cats, or house plants. Despite being essential to life on Earth, wetlands are largely overlooked. These ecosystems play a critical role in global climate regulation, are home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, and support the lives and livelihoods of over a billion people across the globe. However, wetlands across the globe are facing critical threats to their very existence. They are disappearing 3x faster than forests, and 25% of wetland species are at risk of extinction. The Kenyan coast, especially Lamu, is home to incredible marine species like dolphins, turtles, whales, and the majestic whale sharks. These animals aren’t just beautiful—they’re essential to climate resilience. For instance, whales act as “carbon sinks,” storing carbon in their bodies and promoting phytoplankton growth, which captures tons of CO₂. As humans, we’re ambassadors for wildlife. While we may not see it every day, each species plays a small part in maintaining the balance of ecosystems. For the first time, WWF Global Arctic Programme's new report explores Arctic whales’ migratory behaviour across the entire Arctic Ocean, including: 🐋 Where their blue corridors are in the Arctic Ocean. 📅 When the corridors are being used by the whales. 🚢 And how these whales’ journeys overlaps with ship traffic. Arctic blue corridors are migration superhighways that allow whales, seals, walrus and other marine animals to move between important habitats. Whales need different habitats for important life events, such as feeding, birth and mating. But whales face growing threats on their journeys: 🌡️ Climate change has reduced sea ice thickness and extent, affecting whale migration cues, shelter and access to food. 🚢 Less sea ice has also meant increased shipping activity. Between 2013-2023, a remarkable 37% more ships entered the Arctic. By protecting blue corridors – in the Arctic and beyond – we ensure that whales and other marine animals can reach the habitats they need for those important life events.
