Trees are not just a beautiful part of our natural environment, but they also play a crucial role in sustaining life on Earth. First and foremost, trees are essential for our planet's health. They act as the Earth's lungs, absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. This process is vital for maintaining the balance of gases in our atmosphere and combating climate change. Trees also help to regulate the water cycle, reduce soil erosion, and provide habitat for countless species of plants and animals. Furthermore, trees provide numerous benefits for human well-being. They offer shade and cooling in urban areas, reducing the effects of the so-called "heat island" effect. Trees can also improve air quality by filtering pollutants and particulates from the air. In addition, they contribute to our mental and emotional well-being, providing spaces for recreation, relaxation, and contemplation. On this National Tree Day, it is important for all of us to reflect on the significance of trees and consider what we can do to protect and enhance their presence in our communities. With a roaring population of 3,682 tigers, India is the Tiger Capital of the World. Home to 75% of the world's tiger population, Madhya Pradesh emerges as the Tiger State of India, boasting a staggering 785 majestic big cats. Key highlights: ->India's tiger population surpasses expectations, with a thriving count of 3,682. -> Madhya Pradesh leads the pack with 785 tigers, showcasing a 49% increase since 2012. -> Conservation efforts pay off as tiger numbers soar across reserves, with Corbett Tiger Reserve leading at 260 tigers. -> Not just in reserves but outside protected areas too, tigers find refuge, reflecting a holistic conservation approach. These numbers reflect a resurgence of India's unwavering commitment to preserving its rich biodiversity. 𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗯 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 There are around 5,000 tigers left in the wild today, according to various scientific sources. 🇮🇳 India is home to approximately 3,700 wild tigers, which is around 75% of the world’s wild tiger population. Since 1973, the Indian government has been implementing Project Tiger, an ambitious conservation program aimed at protecting these majestic animals. 🇷🇺🇨🇳 The second-largest wild tiger population is found in Russia and northeastern China. In Russia alone, the number of Amur/Siberian tigers may now reach 600-700 animals. 🌍🐅 Today, on International Tiger Day, we recognize the importance of preserving this iconic species. Established in 2010 at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit in Russia, 13 tiger range nations, including India, came together to address the alarming loss of 97% of wild tigers since the early 20th century. These nations committed to the Tx2 goal, aiming to double the tiger population from 3,200 to at least 6,000. Startups and businesses can learn a lot from these conservation efforts: 1. 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴-𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Just like Project Tiger, businesses need to have a long-term vision and commitment to sustainability and growth. 2. Our journey of #30YearsOfEnergisingIndia began from Ravva, Andhra Pradesh in 1994. As we developed the oil & gas fields in the region to drive the nation’s energy security, we also turned Ravva into a green home for a vast variety of flora and fauna. With the 56 acres of mangroves planted by us around our offshore facility, we are able to provide a nesting place for over 150 bird species, 50 butterfly species, rare mammals like Golden Jackals, smooth-coated otters, fishing cats, and a wide variety of snakes, turtles, insects, and many more organisms crucial for the ecosystem.   Not only has this become a scenic location with acres of green stretch and water bodies, it also attracts thousands of migratory birds every year. We have also provided for the re-colonisation of fishing cats in the region, through our partnership with the Forest Department in the KG Basin through our study on their habitat requirements. With our objective to create a harmonious blend of conservation and coexistence, we continue #TransformingthePlanet by planting around 300,000 mangroves in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh government.
