Please join Bernstein’s Dan Axelrod, CFP®️, CDFA®️, and Roosevelt Bowman, Senior Investment Strategist, for the Second Quarter of 2024’s edition of Identifying Market Opportunities with Dan and Roosevelt. The first quarter was a tale of two cities for stocks and bonds – a very different story than the Fourth Quarter of 2024 when both were up, big. Rates continued to rise across the board as more and more (too) strong economic data rolled in, hamstringing fixed income while equity markets rallied, and private alternatives proved their value. Then just last week, the story changed drastically. As the saying goes, one’s company, two’s a crowd and three’s a party. After three consecutive months of stronger than expected labor market and inflation data, we can no longer treat this as a seasonal anomaly, but rather need to treat it as the beginning of a trend. With this new trend of stalled progress on the return of the labor market to equilibrium and a gradual pace of disinflation, we are forced to adjust our forecasts for inflation and interest rates in the short- and medium-term, which will, of course, affect potential future returns for all asset classes. Tune in to hear more from Dan and Roosevelt and be sure to specifically listen in for this quarter’s “Most Interesting Chart(s)!”
