Poor wetting occurs when there is a lack of metal-to-metal reaction between solder and PCB substrate due to contamination, presence of metal compounds, sulfides on silver surfaces, oxides on tin surfaces, excess aluminum, zinc, or cadmium in solder, and gas on the PCB substrate.
