It seems that something is happening in Farringdon... When three separate clients mention, out of the blue, that they’ve been in Farringdon recently and they think it could be a spot to explore for their concept, you have to stop and think for a second about whether a trend is emerging. The arrival of Crossrail has provided property people with lots of conversations about the potential of this area for years. High-rise offices were consented and constructed, and high-profile chefs took up their starting positions (remember Jason Atherton’s Sosharu, anyone?), but with delays to the Elizabeth Line, followed by Covid, Farringdon seemed to be facing a very bleak future, until now... The arrival of Brutto, Bouchon Racine and Restaurant St Barts have made the area a hotspot for foodies, and when you add in the delights of nearby Exmouth Market a few minutes’ walk away, with Quality Chop House, Moro and Morchella (one of onepoint2’s most recent deals, and already winning the hearts of London’s top chefs), this is perhaps one of London’s most exciting corners for dining. If you want to join them, you should probably speak to a well-connected property agent who can tell you what’s what. #property #leisure #hospitality #opportunitiesunlocked #onepoint2

It’s no surprise that locals have a strong affinity for high-quality dining options, from trendy downtown eateries to beloved hidden gems. What does this mean for our real estate market? Has brunching become more popular than going out in the evening in London? Our article online at Capital A List delves into the rise of brunches in London, offering insights into the world of the fourth essential meal of the day… Brunches in London are that magical time between breakfast and lunch when calories don’t count, and it’s socially acceptable to have a cocktail before noon. Gone are the days when brunch was a mere meal; in the city’s streets, it has ascended to a cultural phenomenon, rivaling even the most exclusive nightclubs in its allure. London has witnessed a remarkable transformation in its dining culture in the last couple of decades. With its little intricacies, cultural heritage and influences, and economic impact, brunch is now a political meal. This phenomenon is not merely a trend but a reflection of London’s evolving culinary scene, blending tradition with modernity.

"The dining room table creates access" A great line from my friend Godfrey Mmagawo, who was explaining to me how when a big family dinner happens, knowledge is shared around the table, and the younger kids gain access into the value that the broader family offers through rich story telling and reflections. Think of that one moment as a kid during the holidays, whether it be a Christmas dinner or a big birthday party, where everyone sat around the dining room table and shared stories, wisdom or even differing points of view. For a young kid, this was a place where you learned and got access into the inner worlds of those older than you, as well as a place where you had a bit of an audience yourself! I can remember one time when my family and some family friends were spending a weekend away in the Wild Coast (South east coast of South Africa) where we had booked a wooden house over looking the bay, nestled into the remote beauty of that region. Each night we had a braai of sorts, and sat around the table on the veranda late into the night, sharing stories of our childhoods and teasing one another lovingly, laughing until we cried! My siblings and I all grew up on a farm, so we had a plethora of tales to share. In between the laughter, more somber stories would occasionally arise, invoking different emotions from the table. The conversation would take twists and turns, ups and downs, some what like a roler coaster ride! All facilitated by this welcoming, safe space where people felt comfortable and sat shoulder to shoulder, eye to eye while being included in the conversation; The dining room table. The point is that dining room tables for centuries have not only been a place of connection, but also a place where you got access. Access to your family, community, stories, ideas and sometimes life changing discussion. In my old church, the pastor would often refer to the dining room table as the operating table: A place of healing and restoration. I leave you with a question: What is your fondest dinner party memory? *** The image below is from a dinner party hosted to discuss public space in Durban, over veg wraps 🌯 The stories shared were super interesting, but that's for another post! #diningroomtable #dinnerparty #dinnerpartyApp #openseat #community #access

When my dad became reliant on a wheelchair last year, we realised how small London's restaurant scene is for disabled people. No ramps, tiny loos and more block restaurant access for so many. It's been a lovely experience to visit and highlight of some of London's best accessible restaurants together in recent months: https://lnkd.in/eanDgk69 Please comment below the article if you have other brilliant gems to highlight.
