There are lots of 4 Hour Work Week bozos that hire from the Philippines. If you’re hiring for experience, is that who you want their training to come from? Instead of assigning a whole department to someone that knows nothing about your business.. Why don't you try delegating a repeated system? Like your process for setting up a product launch PPC ad campaign. Hiring for experience sounds like a good idea But maybe hiring for no experience is a route that works better for you No Experience Teach skills from scratch Easier to focus on character and culture fit Undervalued in the market With Experience Difficult to re-teach learnings Higher comp expected Lower talent pool to choose from If you are hiring with experience, you better know how to test for it. Because their ‘training’ may have come from said bozo trying to have a ‘4 hour work week’ and his business crumbled. -Zack

What do you look for when you're hiring and how do you find the best VA candidates?” Great questions so here’s an overview of our approach. First and foremost, we look for team players. People who are genuinely kind and cooperative with a positive outlook on life and work, able to express empathy. But that doesn’t mean they’re marshmallows. We look for people who are willing to put in the work, capable of respectfully expressing their opinions and enthusiastic about learning. It’s unlikely we will find people like this through only one channel so we use five. We've had great success finding highly skilled Filipinos through various channels like LinkedIn, Facebook and SEEK, Cebu's go-to online job board. While we also advertise on our website, we've found an even more effective avenue: referrals from our existing team members. Our staff know what sort of people do well, so we prioritise referrals from our existing team members and this works extremely well.
